That is the bitter news for every serving youth Corps member and graduates hoping to be mobilized for the NYSC scheme one day.

If you belong to any of the two categories above and you interpret your Call-Up for NYSC as a call for National Service, then you are wrong. DON'T be carried away, don't live in the past, upgrade and reboot your mind. There is no more National Youth Service. To know what you have, then read on.

A National service is a National sacrifice, and a sacrifice is "giving up (something valued) for the sake of other considerations".

Some will argue simply on the amount being paid as Allawee, then you should be told that it has always been small. However dare to ask yourself, what valuable have you or others given up to be engaged in NYSC for one year?

If you are not on NYSC, are you sure of getting employed within the first 12 months after graduation? If not, then where is the sacrifice? It's a mere imagination, an assumption.

There was National sacrifice a long time ago when employers used to flock the campuses to recruit prospective graduates (final year students) into their company's work force.

Attempts to serve twice - attempting to sacrifice over and over? Funny.

The Reality
Its seen as an opportunity to get something and be engaged.
Now, it's more of a social safety-net that should even be upgraded.

Yes, the scheme is still running and is called "National Youth Service" but I advise that, if you have gotten the chance to be mobilized for NYSC, you should see yourself as a Corps member on a >>>
