In a country where Senators take home at least 5 times the remunerations of their U.S. counterparts and 3 times the salary of the president of America, Barak Obama, Unemployment has hit an all time high in Nigeria.

Surulere was brought to a standstill as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) aptitude test for Lagos held at the National Stadium Surulere Lagos on Saturday, 13th of November, 2010, drew a mammoth crowd of over 20000 trained Doctors and BSc. holders!

The number would have been higher had the Federal Road Safety Commission, (FRSC) not scheduled theirs on the same day.

An NDLEA official cum invigilator was overheard telling one of her colleagues that there are just 4000 slots Nationwide for the BSc. category (Superintendent Cadre).

The Stadium was more than one-third full and the combination of NDLEA officials, Soldiers, Policemen, Traffic wardens, Civil defence and Navy personnel was not enough to stop the test from turning to a forum. In-fact, the clearly overwhelmed and exhausted officials did not bother!
But kudos should be given to them for ensuring security.

Disgruntled applicants saw the exercise as perfunctory-something to compensate the crowd for coughing out 1500 Naira each for the application exercise.
Applicants expressing their dismay to their colleagues complained about the lack of credible leaders at the forthcoming elections, some have vowed not to vote!

“The youths have no future to look forward to.” “All they want is our vote” “They have no blueprint!” “Have you heard Atiku’s jingle? …pathetic…IBB nko?,   ”
It is rumored that the exercise generated nothing less than 3 billion naira (18 million dollars) Nationwide.

The exercise continues today (Sunday the 14th) for HND and ND holders (Narcotics Cadre) and this time around the number of ‘spectators’ for the ‘match’ is expected to supersede 27000.

Here are some pictures of the crowd at the stadium.

Please share your experience too and add more pictures if you have any.
