Algorithms is simply a fancy word for imposing the will of a few based on certain metrics over that of the overal users. Natuarally, certain metrics within a program help the users decide what they like and want to see based on their activities. This to me enhances natural growth and propensity to go viral based on popular demand. Then Algorithms came along and messed things up. The latest Indtagram update for instance removed the users activity feed so you mo longer see what people like or follow per time. Now all you see is your followers activities on your page which isn't enough. This to me reduces the ability to get discovered based on activities on any post you make. You now have to rely on some stupid algorithm and hope it picks your post and features you on the discovered section so other people who aren't following you yet can see your post. Algorithms also messes up the feed. It diminishes certain posts you make so people who follow you can't see it on your feed. This is the same thing they did with Facebook that made it all the more boring and people left in droves for the data consuming but more interesting Instagram. I believe Instagram is about to suffer the same fate as well. My opinion.. Lalasticlala |
