*Another Fire Outbreak in Onitsha, contained by Anambra Firemen*

Yesterday at about 1818 hours, the Anambra State Fire and Rescue Services Agency received a distress call of a fire outbreak at Onitsha at the ground floor of a 4 storey building at No. 99 Awka Road, adjacent Washington Grammar School, Onitsha.

The fire was quickly controlled by men of the State Fire and Rescue Services Agency with the assistance of the people around the fire scene.

Anambra State Fire Chief, Engr Martin Agbili, stated that, "The fire outbreak occurred as a result of electrical fault" emphasizing the need for everyone to always remember to switch off electrical and electronics gadgets when not in use to avoid power surge.

"We wish to use this medium to appreciate the conduct of the public towards the firefighters during the event. We continue to call for their cooperation whenever firefighters come to fight fire anywhere.

"We also appreciate the assistance of the DPO and Operation Kpochapu Patrol Team from Inland Town Police Station and the Soldiers for the protection given to the Firefighters," he added.

Recall that Anambra State Fire and Rescue Agency has in less than a month contained several fire incidents that would have caused huge human and property losses.
