Lionel Messi has been revealed as the winner of the prestigious Ballon d'Or 2019 award ahead of his close challenger Cristiano Ronaldo, inside source claims. According to report by Soccer Laduma citing insider source in Spain, the Barcelona star will beat his rival to the individual award. Messi and Ronaldo have dominated football scene for a decade and have won five Ballon d'Or awards each among numerous awards.

The decision led to displeasure in football with Cristiano Ronaldo's mum recently linking "football mafia" factor as the reason behind her son not winning more individual awards.
