About thirty women journalists from Ondo state are attending the event which will witness the convergence of well over 1,200 women journalists from Nigeria and abroad.

The wife of Ondo State Governor and founder of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, BRECAN, Chief Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu will today walk tall as she receives the NAWOJ GRAND AMAZON AWARD.

The award ceremony is part of activities to mark the 30th Anniversary of NAWOJ in Nigeria.

NAWOJ in Ondo State said the wife of the Governor will also at the event be enlisted into the Association’s hall of fame, all in recognition of her commitment to the development of Children and women through her BEMORE EMPOWERED INITIATIVE, her commitment to the fight against rape and gender based violence among many other humanitarian strides.

The Secretary, Mrs Patience Ibeh said “NAWOJ carefully followed these initiatives through its lens as Media Executives and deemed it fit to honour Mrs Akeredolu as one of our AMAZONS as we commemorate the 30th Anniversary and celebrate the efforts of our founding mothers.”

The Anniversary which will hold at the Radio House Press Center Hall, Garki Abuja is with the theme: NAWOJ @ 30: CELEBRATING THE AMAZONS
