Kerosene remains an important source of energy in most homes. The case of adulteration of the product has led to an heightened safety awareness among users of this product. Two important quality parameters of kerosene are colour and flash point. Standard methods of analysing kerosene is highlighted in this article but as a rough analysis: dip a piece of broom stick into your kersone, introduce fire source - lighter - if the fire comes as explosion, it is most likely that the quality of the product is questionable.
