Sometimes I feel the youth in the Nigeria of today are so tainted, that whenever they are given the mantle of leadership they either lack creativity or civility.I am not saying that they are all bad, but most of the ones that have had the privilege to lead are a disgrace to their fellows youths and the nation.

Senator Elisha Abbo is a 41 year old man representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in Adamawa State. He was accused of assaulting a woman at an adult sex shop in abuja. The video went viral and you could see the arrogance displayed by this not so honourable senator. As one of the youngest senators in the upper chamber he did not give the youths the kind of publicity that would warrant more participation.

Governor Yahaya Bello is the current governor of Kogi state and the youngest Governor elected in Nigeria of today. He has been in the lime light for all the wrong reasons and the state has never had it so bad. He removed his deputy through illegal means, try to remove the chief judge, did not pay worker salaries for months and in some cases even years. Elections are around the corner and the people of the state are afraid and gun toting gangsters have taking over the state.He runs the state like a kingdom in which he is the king and makes almost all decisions without consultations. By comparison this young man is not only the worst governor in Kogi history but the worst governor in Nigeria presently.

Executive Chairman Fuad Atanda-Lawal is the chairman Ikoyi/Obalende LCDA in Lagos State. He is another young man that gives the Nigerian youth a bad name. This Local government chairman is so arrogant and greedy that people within the LGA have stayed away from the council.With the introduction of direct allocation from the federal coffers, the current chairmen now have more money to help the plight of the common man.
His wife resides in Canada with his children,fictitious projects, over inflated projects are the order of the day.Rumors are also going around about him buying houses in Spain and Portugal.Most chairman should be humble, because they are the nearest to the everyday people.This chairman was managing a car wash in that same vicinity before he became the chairman. Lagos state sponsored a training event for all 57 chairman in the United States all the chairman were given visas except Fuad Atanda-Lawal.His arrogance,greed and lack of collective inclusion are his weakness.

I have given you examples of young people from different states,tiers of government as in federal,state and local government. The youths must up their game and bring innovation, positive energy,decorum and collective inclusion into their style of politics. If this does not happen very soon, the not to young to rule ideology will be a slogan and not a reality.
