1. Soyinka to Government: Release Sowore.

Nobel laureate Prof Wole Soyinka has urged civil society organisations (CSOs) to rise against what he called the steady entrenchment of impunity in the dealings of state with the citizenry.

The globally renowned literary icon noted that the impunity occurs at individual and organisation levels.

He said the level of arrogance among government functionaries had crossed permissible lines.

2. CAN ‘didn’t pray’ for Bello’s re-election.

Leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Thursday refuted claims on social media that its President, Rev. Samson Ayokunle, had visited Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to pray for his re-election.

CAN stressed that it was not partisan and couldn’t have identified with any particular candidate or candidates in the forthcoming governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states.

3. Obaseki provides for new minimum wage in 2020 budget proposal.

Edo State Government has provided N34bn in next years budget for the implementation of the new minimum wage....
