Kidnappers abduct a Catholic priest yesterday Evening, 15th November 2019, while returning from the Diocesan Pastoral council meeting held at Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu.


The Priest is the Parish Priest of St. Patrick Ihuonyia, Amansi-Odo, Ezeagu Local Government Area, he was identified to be Rev. Fr. Theophilus Ndulue



The Diocesan Director of Social Communications , Rev. Fr. Benjamin Achi confirmed the ugly incident.

According to eye witness account, Fr. Theophilus was going back to his base in company of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) President of his Parish, after the Pastoral Council meeting chaired by the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga when they were attacked by the suspected kidnappers . However, the CWO President was released an hour later while Fr. Theophilus is still held hostage.







Information is still sketchy on what the criminals want as they are yet to make contact.



Indeed this has been a trying time for the Catholic Community in Enugu State as this is the 5th time a Priest has been targeted by these criminal elements for kidnap. Unfortunately, the Diocese has lost two Priests in their prime, while one narrowly escaped their onslaught with bullet wounds. Just recently about a fortnight ago, Rev. Fr. Arinze Madu was kidnapped at the main gate of Queen of the Apostle Spiritual Seminary , Imezi Owa and later released 2 days after.

This brings to mind the deteriorating security situation in Enugu State even after the State Government has taken certain decisive actions in stemming the rise of insecurity in the state. Prayers have been intensified as authorities await for communication to be established with Fr. Theophilus’s abductors.
