BAYELSA, KOGI GOVERNORSHIP ELECTIONS LACK REQUIREMENTS OF VIABLE DEMOCRACY, SAYS YAKASAI
-
Elder statesman and foremost northern leader, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai on Monday in Kano declared that the just concluded governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi states did not meet the requirements of a viable democracy.

Yakasai who spoke from his Yankaba residence in Kano also called for immediate reforms in Nigeria’s political system, expressing fears that elections in Nigeria will not be any better if action is not urgently taken to establish standards that will ensure viable democracy.

Buhari is tampering with our democracy. Don't think Buratai will defend you. The law off karma. He is doing exactly what Shagari did that made Tunde Idagbon to overthrow Shagari. It has never been this fragile. I don't see this democracy lasting long the way we are going.

The people that are supposed to save it are abusing it with hate speech laws. If we can't talk we might as well be running a military government which is cheaper no need for rigging elections. So much excuses for military overthrow.
No check and balances by the lawmakers and judiciary is not functioning or as weak as a rubber nobody listens to them.
