There are various wavelengths which are used for the administration of laser beams on the patient’s skin. There are also practitioners that believe the wavelength doesn’t have any significant effect on the result of the skin treatment. Some people who think this just believe if the low wavelength laser machines are used for longer, the results observed will be the same with the high wave laser machines.

One thing you must understand is that the laser wavelengths play a vital role in the removal of tattoos. The wavelength of the respective laser machines and their effects on tattoos will be looked later on.

There are many things to consider before embarking on a tattoo removal effort. You need to consider some stuff such as the history of the patient’s tattoos, the skin allergies they have, if they’ve had past removals, and so on. There is also a need to consider the type of tattoo the individual is currently sporting. This helps you to measure the wavelength you may need to get the ink of that skin. Yes, you heard it; wavelengths are needed to remove some certain types of tattoos. Wavelengths are of different frequencies. These frequencies are helpful for the removal of certain tattoos. You’ll get to see the different wavelengths and their uses in taking care of some tattoo removals. In this article, we are going to be looking at Q-switched laser wavelengths. This is because most of the older laser methods are gradually becoming obsolete or unusable in tattoo removal. It is also because the Q-switched models are widely used and accepted in the market of tattoo removals.

Let’s have a look:

The 1064nm Nd: YAG Laser Wavelength:

The 1064 nanometer ‘neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet’ laser wavelength, or the 1064nm Nd: YAG for short, is designed to easily wipe off dark coloured or black tattoos. It is no secret that the most used ink colour in tattoos is black. This makes the 1064nm Nd: YAG the most ideal laser removal tool for dark pigments. It is possible for the 1064nm Nd: YAG to treat other pigments, it is also known to treat a great percentage of tattoos.

The 532nm Nd: YAG Laser Wavelength:

The 532 nm Nd: YAG laser wavelength is mainly used for the brighter colours. This laser makes use of its ability on brighter colours to clear off all unwanted pigments after the 1064 nm variant has been used. The 532nm is also very useful in clearing ink off all skin types. It is also a very safe wavelength to be used on skin.

The 694nm Laser Wavelength:

The 694nm laser wavelength is very useful in removing colours which are based on green or blue pigments. This laser makes it easy to remove the pigments when the Nd: YAGs find it difficult to do so. The 694nm is also able to remove darker colours.

The 755nm Laser Wavelength:

The 755nm laser wavelength is suitable for getting the black, blue, green and stubborn bright colours off skin. It can also be used together with an Nd: YAG for effective treatment of the tattooed area.

The 585nm Laser Wavelength:

The 585nm wavelength is useful for very small tattoos and is limited in the amount of decomposition power it has on ink. This can be used effectively for minuscule tattoos.

Conclusion

From what we’ve seen above, we can rightly say that the wavelength of a laser machine has a lot to do with its performance. Wavelengths make it possible for laser machines to receive a good amount of energy which helps decompose the bond of the tattoo ink.
