The Independent National Electoral Commission on Thursday presented certificates of return to the winners of last Saturday’s governorship election in Kogi State, incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello and his deputy and running mate, Edward Onoja, of the All Progressives Congress. The SOURCE(NAIJAPALABA.COM)-commission also presented certificates of return to the Bayelsa State governor-elect, David Lyon, and deputy governor-elect, Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, of the APC. Bello and Onoja were given the certificates at the Kogi State INEC headquarters, Lokoja. The National Commissioner in charge of North-Central, Mohammed Haruna, who presented the certificates said, “Today marks a new beginning after the election and a call to duty for the governor-elect and his deputy.” Earlier, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof James Apam, said the presentation was in line with the tradition of the commission. Also, the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Edo, Bayelsa and Rivers states, Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu, presented the certificates to Lyon and Degi-Eremienyo amid tight security at the Prof Mahmood Yakubu Media Centre in the Bayelsa State INEC headquarters, Yenagoa. The state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Monday Udoh, presented the certificate of return to the state House of Assembly member-elect, Charles Daniels, who won the outstanding Brass Constituency 1 election. Agbamuche-May explained that the ceremony marked the end of the electoral process which started in May 2019 in Bayelsa State. Lyon promised that he would not disappoint the people of the state, adding that he and the APC had entered into a social contract with the people, which would translate into the development and security of the state.
