Actors Guild Disowns Another Self-acclaimed Actress by Tmgold1(f): 11:30pm On Nov 22, 2019
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has again disowned another self-acclaimed actress after behaving unruly in public domain.

A journalist and public relations consultant, Mr. Ngozi Emedolibe, had taken up a humanitarian call by appealing to kind-hearted persons on his facebook timeline to assist a lady who has been abandoned in a private hospital, Tamara Medical Center, Akute Ajuwon in Ogun State after child birth.

According to the post, the said woman, Mrs. Angela Joseph Morgan, an indigene of Akwa Ibom State was lying critically ill after a caesarean session at the hospital at a cost of N200, 000.

Angela’s husband, a drycleaner had deposited the only money (N35, 000) he had saved for the child’s delivery, not knowing that the delivery would be a complicated one.

The post said the weak mother and her 9-day old baby had been abandoned to their fate in the maternity ward without medication and proper feeding.

Emedolibe then appealed for help from the public.

While some people responded positively, one Chioma Toplis who claimed to be a Nollywood star went hard on the woman who has only one child before this incident.

In her comment, Chioma Toplis said, “Give her another one year after this she will become pregnant again. They never learn. After the first child they should have taken some break till they are capable financially before getting another child into this world. It is not a competition!”

When the poster and some others pleaded that it was not time to apportion blames on any party in the imbroglio but to see to it that the life of the woman in question and her baby could be saved, the self-acclaimed actress resident in Abuja took everyone to the canvass.
To one she said, “Need my attention? Please join the queue.”

To another who said nobody needed her attention and that she should remain quiet if she was not willing to render help, Chioma retorted, “Your mother needs it (my attention) then. That is why you are still queuing.”

When our correspondent sort the reaction of the leadership of the umbrella body of actors in the country on Chioma’s public outburst, a top executive officer of the Guild who said she was speaking for the national president, Ejezie Emeka Rollas said,

“The attention of the president has been called to the unruly outburst of the said Chioma. But I want to say that she (Chioma Toplis) is not a member of AGN and so cannot be referred to Nollywood actor. In the first place, an actor is supposed to be a role model, not to be involved in any abusive or unwholesome acts. There are many people like that out there who are using the name of our respectable Guild to commit all sort of atrocity.”

It would be recalled that earlier this month (November), The AGN President had cause to disclaim one Deborah Oguntoyinbo, a purported Nollywood actress who was reportedly arrested by the police in Canada over a series of identity thefts.

According to Rollas, after extensive investigations by his association, it was found out that the so called Nollywood actress had never featured in any Nollywood film.

Rollas said, after extensive investigations by his association, it was found out that the story was blatant mischief aimed at disparaging the acting profession in particular and Nollywood in general.

The AGN national leader had then vowed to weed out all recalcitrant elements who are using the name of the association to foment trouble or commit crime.
