Final year is one of the most difficult years in almost all tertiary institutions. Every undergraduate project students most engage in research project writing. Most students are usually very lucky to meet a good supervisor that will guide them throughout the period of project writing.
As a good project student, one of the most important things to know is how to be able to detect the variables in the research project topic(s) given to you.
When you are able to detect these variables, then you need to develop yourself in the areas of sourcing for materials with respect to the variables in your research project topic.
When you have finally gotten your materials; then you start thinking of the contents of a complete project work; of course we all know that a complete project work has five chapters. But the arrangement and the content of each chapter may vary depending on the format given to by your tertiary institution. If all thing being equal there is a standard format for complete project writing as regard the content of each project chapters.
Generally a complete project work is supposed to have the following headings in the table of content unless there is a variation in the format from your supervisor or your institution.
TABLE OF CONTENT
CHAPTER ONE
1.1 Background of study
1.2 Statement of problems
1.3 Objectives of Research
1.4 Scope and limitations
1.5 Research questions
1.6 Significance of study
1.7 Definition of Terms
CHAPTER TWO: REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
2.1 Conceptual Frame Work
2.2 Theoretical Frame Work
2.3 Empirical Review
2.4 Gap in Literature
2.5 Summary
CHAPTER THREE
3.0 Introduction
3.1 research design
3.2 population of study
3.3 sample size/sample technique
3.4 research instrument:
3.5 validity and reliability of instrument
3.6 sources of data collection
3.7 method/techniques of data analysis
3.8 limitations of the methodology
CHAPTER FOUR
Data Presentation and Analysis
4.1 Introduction
4.2 Data Analysis
4.3 Test of Hypothesis
4.4 discussion of findings
CHAPTER FIVE
5.1 Findings
5.2 Conclusion
5.3 Recommendation
5.5 References
5.6 Appendix
Another area a project student is expected to master is the ability to detect the problem statement in the project topic given to him/her. Now he/her is expected to draw his/her objectives from problem detected. Among the objectives a project student is stating; there should one of the objectives of the study that will try to correlate one of the variables to the other.
When writing the chapter two of the project, especially the conceptual frame work; you pick of the variable and discuss the concept, then you pick the next variable and discuss. Then you try to find a relationship between the two variables. After which you look for suitable theory that best satisfy your research topic. Finally you do the empirical studies following the table of content above.
The chapter three is where you do the research method or methodology for your project work. There is an article I came across on the web on PROJECTREGARDS.COM about how to write outstanding research methodology … click here to read…>>.
When you are done with the research methodology you can now to proceed to the data analysis.
