Press Release.

REFRAIN FROM ANY DISCO DANCE ON THE ALLEGED CRIMINAL CASE AGAINST CHIEF OF STAFF AND CO, GROUP CHARGES ABDULRASAQ AND EFCC

Our attention has been drawn to an information which has gone viral on the social media and some national dailies in which it was alleged that Alhaji Adisa Logun, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Kwara State was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over his alleged involvement in the illegal diversion of Kwara State internally generated revenue with other key actors in the state public service prior the 2019 general elections.

In lieu of the above, we wish to make the following submissions:

1. That the state government and the accused person has been silent on this allegation which bothers on integrity and corruption. We implore the Chief of Staff and the state government to come out with their own position on this in order to either confirm or deny this huge allegation.

2. That the accused person, Alhaji Aminu Logun who is being investigated for receiving over 200 million naira which was illegally issued by the Kwara State Internal Revenue (KWIRS) as a part donation to the Governorship Campaign for the APC gubernatorial candidate, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq.

3. That the said donation, a large chunk of the generated common wealth, was illegally approved and issued by the earstwhile Chairman of Kwara State Internal Revenue, Prof Awodun who is under EFCC custody for questioning and scrutiny on financial crimes allegedly committed during his stay in office as the Chairman of KWIRS.

4. That the well spelled allegations should not be treated with gloved hands neither should it be allowed to be (under any guise) swept under the partisan carpet by EFCC and Kwara State Government, as the excess hill of the involved public officials has filled to the brim.

5. And it should be noted that the money in question was remorselessly looted, shared and deployed by some heartless individuals in public office to pursue a personal cause or vengeance against a personal enemy and/or group of persons which has no benefit on the welfare and development of Kwara State.

6. The accusations of diverting the tax payers' money into private use which involved Prof Awodun and Alhaji Aminu Logun is a weighty one. And we strongly believed that goose and gander shared the same identity and we demand that the two personalities must be treated alike. No going back on this call!

7. We are offering the Kwara State Government under the leadership of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq an unsolicited advice not to make any attempt (either in proxy or in whichever form) to cross the law from taking its full cause. A person or party, especially a government that claimed to have ridden on the back of transparency, uprightness and financial discipline, will not participate in any shameful disco dance that might subject the sanity in the environment to immoral pollution. Afterall, He who comes into equity must appear with clean hands.

8. Thank you.

Signed:

Comrade Abdulraheem Olaitan,*
Assistant Publicity Secretary*,t
The People's Voice.
