SHOCKER! KOGI GOVERNOR ORDERS CIVIL SERVANTS TO SUBMIT RESULTS OF ELECTION IN THEIR POLLING UNIT
opera.com
In what could be described as a shocking move, Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello has allegedly ordered the heads of government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state to "submit in detail, their stewardship to the New Direction Administration in respect of their MDAs"
In an Internal Memo dated 28th November, 2019 with the subject: SUBMISSION OF YOUR STEWARDSHIP TO NEW DIRECTION ADMINISTRATION and signed by the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade, the information that must be contained in the account of steward include:
Name:
Local Government Area:
Office(s) held:
Duration:
Ward:
Polling Unit (PU):
Results of Election in PU and Ward:
Remarks:
Observers say the governor has been in a vindictive mode since the outcome of the highly controversial November 16, 2019 gubernatorial election which he won amidst widespread condemnation and complaints from both local and international election monitors. The said memo could therefore be seen as an inverted attempt to ascertain where the loyalties of the affected top government functionaries swung during the elections and maybe also to confirm if they possess any political influence in their locality.
The governor is said to be particularly embittered that some members of his administration "sold out" in the heat of electioneering making it so difficult for him to secure victory albeit at all cost. Just a few days back, the governor sacked all his political appointees, directing that the process of handover by those affected to the most senior civil servant in their respective offices must be completed on December 3, 2019.
A copy of the internal memo is cited below:

This might be a dangerous 'New Direction' for the administration.

... and before the brand (re)new(ed) chief executive vent his anger on the hapless civil servants, he should be reminded that a certain VP also lost his polling unit and is not being harassed for that.

INEC should call Yahaya Bello to order. He is trespassing in a a jurisdiction outside his mandate.
