You all know Swanky jka, the young man who played the lead role in the blockbuster Of The year 'living in bondage breaking free' , he has since stolen the hearts of many people and is sure to make out a very profitable acting career for himself for here on. Things were not always rosy for him. As a matter of fact he has been in the industry for more than 9 years now featuring in over ten movies for Ernest Obi and playing the lead in one of them titled 'poka Messiah'.
Jide Kene achufusi started out in 2011 in a television production known as Campos games under the production company, checkmate.
The production brought together a lot of aspiring actors from universities in enugu state and a lot of acting classes were held.
After the production ended in 2012 very few of the actors remained in the entertainment scene including the writer Of The show, victor Iyke.
Victor Iyke proceeded to become a director/producer
Lois truly proceeded to become a writer
Jeff Dallas went on to become an artist manager and transitioned into photography and cinematography eventually establishing Jeff Dallas Studioz.
Swanky jka however tried his hands in modelling and achieved mild success. He did share the stage with names like uti nwachukwu, but this never translated to money as the shows were never consistent.
He decided to try his luck in pagentry and contested for Mr ideal Nigeria
Eventually coming sixth place ( some say he was robbed off fifth place).
He reconnected with his close relation, Obi emeleonye to make 'pretty little things'
And a TV series called 'crazy lovely cool ' which also featured adesuwa etomi. This didn't however give him much Recognition.
Victor Iyke his old pal needed to make an indigenous movie for African magic and swanky jka was Called upon to take the lead roles in both movies.
'a lonely lane ' and 'ofuobi '. The movie and his performance earned him nominations in African magic viewers choice awards and best of nollywood awards.
He also reconnected with another friend of his Jeff Dallas who was still an artist manager at the time and they both helped pageant winners across campuses in enugu kick of a modelling career. Unlike his counterparts from check mate who became writers, producers, directors, swanky jka depended on acting alone and this didn't put him at at good advantage because despite featuring and winning an award for 'a lonely lane ' he never got recognition or monetary equivalent and like many nollywood actors, he was struggling and only remained in the industry because of his passion for the art.
His big break came when Charles okpaleke needed a fresh face for the role of nnamdi .alex ekubo was supposed to take on the role however Charles instructed that auditions be carried out in three cities, Lagos, owerri, and Enugu.
Swanky jka Who was fresh from playing igbo characters wowed ramsey Noah with his igbo nuances and landed the role.
Today living in bondage breaking free is the biggest movie in the country and critics are praising his performance . He is not even based in Lagos but is currently the biggest star out of nollywood this year.
