IgbereTV reports that the Jigawa State council of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners have demanded for a payment of minimum pension of twenty thousands Naira.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Chairman of the Union, Com. Abdullahi Tsoho Garba, and made available to IgbereTV.

He explained that some pensioners in the state were currently receiving less than three thousand Naira as their monthly pension.

“We demand for a minimum pension of twenty thousand Naira 20,000 to pensioners.

“We all go to the same market and what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

“We call on pensioners to be calm and prayerful as we are doing anything possible to protect their interest,” he said.

The Union commended the Jigawa state Governor Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar for the approval of the thirty thousand Naira minimum wage and consequential increase to workers’ salary.

Recall that the Jigawa State government has approved the payment of the 30,000 minimum wage effective from December 2019.
