The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the fastest growing airline company in Africa, Barrister Allen Onyema has charged Nigerians on good and quality representation of their fatherland wherever they find themselves, urging the youths especially to shun all forms of discrimination or segregation against one another on the ground of ethnic background adding that ethnic nationality is a script sold by divisive elements to divide Nigerians against one another for political gains which he described as “destructive for nation building.”

Barrister Onyema who is an Alumni of the prestigious premier University of Ibadan was the guest lecturer at the university’s 2nd stanza of its 2019 Alumni Association lecture yesterday which was tagged ,”Nigeria And The Rise And Rise Of Ethnic Nationalism.”

The business mogul cum philanthropist highlighted the dangers of propagating ethnic nationalism as against promoting oneness and faith in one another as Nigerians regardless of tribes or religion adding that no nation on earth has thrived on the backdrop of ethnic nationalism.

He charged Nigerians especially the youths to always place merit above ethnic or religious sentiments in all their dealings and to ensure that the knowledge acquired from the institution is made manifested in their daily lives.

Earlier on, the President of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association worldwide, Professor Elsie Adewoye while addressing the gathering noted that Barrister Allen Onyema has been a reputable ambassador of the prestigious premier University owning to his countless achievements and his global recognitions in his philanthropic services to humanity.

Barrister Onyema while addressing the students present earlier on noted that discriminatory tendencies of any form should not be allowed to thrive as destroys every fibre of collective coexistence adding that Nigeria’s diversity was supposed to be a blessing but divisive elements have turned it otherwise by turning Nigerians against themselves for their personal gains noting that it is imperative to begin to promote oneness in a multiethnic national structure to achieve the objective of nationhood as against ethnic nationalism.

He said that education is all encompassing and should not be acquired for the mere purpose of certification rather, it should serve as a tool to refine the whole being into a better person for the purpose of becoming good and productive members of the society.

When pressed by on his reaction over the allegation of his indictment by the US for money laundry, he thanked Nigerians for their love and support so far, affirming his faith in Nigeria, adding that Nigeria is a big country where everyone can achieve success without being involved in any societal vices.

Other members of the university present include the university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Idowu Abel Olayinka, the Deputy Vice (DVC) Administration as well as Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) Academic.

I hope he gave job to the online touts from the region killing themselves for his downfall so we can have peace.
