It takes just a single punch to change the narrative in heavy weight boxing. Powerful punchers like Iron Mike Tyson, Wilder and even Joshua have shown this to be true time and time again.

In the words of Tyson, every boxer has got a plan until they get hit. The latest testimony to the veracity of this statement was seen in the 1st fight between Anthony Joshua and underdog Andy Ruiz. Nobody took Ruiz seriously, infact Joshua even declared to come for Wilder after Ruiz fight, looking past the shorter plump boxer but BOOM, there came a power punch from Ruiz which made Joshua stagger and even though he lasted a few more rounds, he never recovered from the concussion he was claimed to have suffered from the punch.

In one of his post fight interviews, Joshua referred to that punch as "a punch from the gods", possibly because of the power the punch carried and the fact that it was so swift, he didn't see it coming since in boxing, the punches you didn't see coming hurt the most. This is reminiscent of Maradona's "hand of god".

The manner in which Ruiz won that bout was a hot topic of debate months and months thereafter. While some felt Joshua was mismatched and was no match for Ruiz, others felt the win was a fluke. Popular boxers like Wilder and Fury even predicted Joshua would lose the rematch but the opposite was the case. Joshua came with a plan and it was well executed. Throughout the bout, Ruiz had no chance of landing a defining punch like he did in the first fight.

Joshua won back his belts and he proved that he was right after all, IT WAS INDEED A PUNCH FROM THE gods.
