Ekiti state government under the leadership of Governor Kayode Fayemi has allegedly shut down the popular market established by the former Governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose over exorbitant tax imposed on the traders, VAM News reports.

VAM correspondent while speaking with one of the traders identified as Ola, in his statement said, The government officials came to the Market sometimes Ago to gave us a tax bill of N70,000, N80,000 some N120,000 of which it's too exorbitant for us.

And last month, we agreed to pay N5000 per shop.

Another source claimed that, on getting to work this morning, we discovered that the main gate of the market has been locked and nobody is allowed to carry out his business activities.

The traders are now being billed Annual Tax of between N70,000 to N120,000 by the Ekiti State Govt, according to report gathered by our Correspondent.
