How vital is branding to business?

Does branding really need all your attention?

Reading and learning from top brands in business and entrepreneurs, I learned a few points that I had really like to emphasize.

As an upcoming entrepreneur or business merchandise, it’s very crucial to get a very good Branding for your business or service. Many people do overlook this important aspect and many people really don’t have deep knowledge about it.

What many fail to realize is that starting a business or service is like building a house and the foundation level is the structure called BRANDING. Just as a house without a good foundation is capable of being collapse anytime so, therefore, is a business or services without good branding will surely crumble with time.

What is Branding?
Branding according to Oberlo Branding is the process of creating a strong, positive perception of a company, its products or services in the customer’s mind by combining such elements as logo, design, mission statement, and a consistent theme throughout all marketing communications.

Branding cut across different important aspects like colour (i.e brand colour that will be used in Logo, organizational building paint and organization graphics work) just like MTN officially makes use of Yellow colour, Guaranty Trust Bank officially makes use of Orange colour just to mention a few.

So in any way you can, try and make sure your name stands out. Make research and see if that brand name you are about to use has never been used before.

Your brand name should not be too complex
Your brand name should not be too long or complex, In as much as your brand name should be unique, it must also be short and simple.

A complex or long name might be difficult for customers or consumers to remember and this may hinder them from telling other people about your brand. No one will want to do memorizing just because of your brand.

Another very important and necessary aspect of branding is the LOGO.

A logo is also an identity to your business or services, which is why people pay lots of money to have.

An eye-catching unique logo brand. In fact, a glance at your logo should tell people what your product or service is all about.

Characteristics of a good logo in branding are:
Your Logo should be simple and unique. Like you all know that most top brands both local and international have their logo to be very simple.
Complexity does not define a good brand logo, creativity is the key when it comes to the logo. A creative combination of a few letters and colours can give you a good standard logo.

The logo must graphically represent what your business or brand is all about-from your colour combinations to icons, you must not deviate from the key elements of your business or services.
Seeing your logo alone should give people the idea of what your business or services are all about.

The logo should include or combine your brand colour and your brand name. It’s very important to consider using your brand name be it the first alphabet or the complete name. You can also combine both your brand name and brand colour.
The purpose of this is to ensure that you have a uniform identity and this will make you stand out among others and people can easily differentiate you among other brands.

Like I said earlier construction of brand identity is like constructing the foundation level of a building, the poor foundation put the building into the risk of collapse so also is poor branding puts your business at risk.
