The border is only closed officially. Business has already returned as usual and the whole project is now self defeating.

Imagine sophisticated weapon by smugglers,................ which way NIGERIA.

the outdated gunboats acquired by custom is redundant, why buying old and outdated machine when you know it cant serve the purpose. or was it to just spend the money on something.

180bill is just a enough money to buy the best gunboat in the world...the Truth is that the money has been cornered as usual

This is the result of trying to solve problem in an analogue way.

Bother closure is the dumbest idea and initiative of this government.

The northern borders are active, as affirmed by Buhari's senator, yet he wants the borders down south to be closed.

One Nigeria indeed.

If customs had lived up to expectations, border closure will have been unnecessary in the first instance

Even if all Nigerians linked hands at all the boundaries, the smugglers will still get up to their nefarious tricks.
The way to go is modernisation and technology. That is the recomendation of the world customs organisation 21st century building blocks.
Drones. Aircrafts. Computerisation. Proper welfare packages and integrated information technology is the way to go,not standindg at a border with two steel drums and an overlapping stick asking "Wetin you carry?"

But ALL the borders in the South are closed while the ones in the North are open. The states of the South-South and South-West are the only ones in Nigeria which can be accessed through the creeks and Waterways.

Sighs.

I really wish my people would stop associating with illiterates from the 'yeast'. We are too smart to be dragged into Biafla.

Said it won't work. You don't just go around peddling a war strategy without an objective, target or planned deliverables. Even pressure cookers have relief valves just in case the objectives are not at hand.

This sounds so much like 1985 abd the infamous import license regime. When the dust had settled all that was left were a few artificial billionaires in goverment with their civilian collabirators. The country came out of it like a druggie taken to rehab but without the rehab. Worse, much worse.

Most Nigerians think that we're in 2019 but in reality we're actually in 1984 now, and next year is 1985 grin grin grin

This border closure is to impoverish communities in the SW according to some traditional rulers. Here in the North it's business as usual.

All economic apparatus and heads of economic agencies are now firmly in the hands of northerners.

Warehouses in Kano have foreign rice from Niger, Cameroon and Chad, no Customs disturbing them, the Customs officers wait for southerners who bought rice in Kano to confiscate them in Lokoja or they pay huge bribes cheesy

Are u doing business along the route?
Re: Border Closure: Customs Loses Battle To Waterway Smugglers by Nasiruddeen(m): 5:26pm On Dec 16, 2019
IS IT THE HIJAB THAT YOU PEOPLE HATE OR THE RELIGION?

"Everyone want to be like Mary, the mother of Jesus (AS) but only few that emulate her mode of decent dressing especially covering head" -Na'im.

The literal meaning of hijab is to veil, to cover or to screen. It encompasses more than just a dress code; it is concerned with moral boundaries and respect for woman. It is part of community cohesion and modest behaviour.

Quran says that veiling or covering indicates the high status of believing women:

“… (Oh Muhammad) Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed (molested or insulted)...” (Q 33:59)

The early Christian women veiled their heads in places of worship and anytime they were in public and Christian women continued to maintain this practice to some degree throughout the centuries until the 19th and 20th centuries when the practice rapidly declined.

We advise non Muslims to take their destiny in their own hands instead of allowing warlike leaders to lead them into unnecessary confrontation with Muslims every time.

We invite them to eschew bitterness. We should be partners in lending the voice of reason to the national debate instead of constituting clerical nuisance to the Nigerian nation.

We advise them to desist from giving religion a bad name. The word ‘religion’ is from the Latin word ‘religio’ meaning ‘to link’, ‘to tie’ or ‘to bind’. Therefore religion is about linking people together in love and sharing.

It is not about dividing them. Religion is about love, forgiveness, tolerance, giving and taking.

Let us be good examples for the young generation. Our constant bickering has led to too many religious crises. It has pushed our followers to the precipice of war and instigated them against one another.

Why must we live together like two envious wives of the same husband when we should see ourselves as two sons of the same father?

This is the etymological essence of religion. This is an example of Muslim women that were call to bar in Kenya but I wonder my country, Nigeria, the reverse is the case.

This is disheartened, 180 billion boat can not serve the purpose of which it was purchase. I am very sure that the market value of the boat which the custom purchased will not be above 100 million from the the way the boat is worknig but they claimed to purchase it at the rate of 180 billion,Some of us the citizens will be supporting all these baba blindly due to our tribe, or our relationship with them but am telling you if this generation did not come together as one to stop this people, they will suck the fortune of this country dry and we will be the one to pay for the consequences.
