In my view, the geographical location of present Nigeria would have been divided into kingdoms, caliphates and republics relatively smaller in size. These entities would probably evolve into countries today (to be on sociopolitical par with the rest of the world) each comprising of a dominant tribe and lesser tribes agreeing to unite as one (an administrative system perhaps like United Kingdom). However, without a common language, there may be a lot of division. The Monarchies would have to be progressive and exertive in order to maintain a strong influence and keep their domain united. The best real life example to analyse would be Ethiopia

Didn't even think of it that way, every kingdom would have been independent and advance in the competitive environment..

In my view, I think it could have been a double sided affair, long before colonization, there were African empires like the Mali empire, Oyo empire, and many more so I think these empires would have become nations so as to fit in with the new world.

If there was no colonization, and let's say trading with the Europeans like the Asians did. Africa could be in a much better position since nations would be formed voluntarily rather than the forced marriage of various ethnic groups in a single nation.

Your coherent presentation of facts provides a superior compelling argument. Some negative sentiments of a Non-colonized Africa stem from unpleasant personal experiences or observations within their own communities.

However when you sift through the western media propaganda (which many of us are too eager to subscribe to) it is self evident that a number of African countries would thrive as national entities.

A case study of a missed opportunity at true colonial indepence is the history of Congo. The Belgian king Leopold invaded that vast and beautiful country and carried out a grossly under-reported Holocaust that not even the worst African emperor could possibly match, wiping about 50% of the population (where were the missionaries when this took place).

But when Patrice Lumumba emerged as their democratically elected leader, he declared in no uncertain terms he was for his people alone and no puppet to Belgian colonists. this meant colonists could not tap into the diamonds, oil and natural resources without paying a fair price. well long story short, this African Patriot was slaughtered by the COLONIALIST-LOVING general, Mobutu sese seko and his minions.

The General was internationally touted by the west and Belgian Monarchy as the best thing since sliced bread. This allowed Belgium and the west to continue the daylight robbery of what is arguably the planet's richest country (in terms of natural resources). So did these colonialists 'liberate' and 'empower' this country and others like that of Somalia and CAR? well, let the reader decide.

While one can argue that Colonialists brought development in industry and education, ask yourself, could not an independent non-colonized country embark upon same venture by partnering with local and international countries (on an equal level) and also foster development?

Africa would have been better off without Europe's colonization. This is very clear to see as many African countries are still under the firm grip of European powers. There's a universal struggle for resources; the white man left his enclave for food, so all of his further actions are aimed towards achieving this said goal. Anyone who feels the white man came all the way to save his black arse can go and lick his white-saviour's arse to show appreciation.
