I can sense a matter of inferior mentality. Alaafin, the Oba, comes out very simply attired why the Ooni, not an Oba, is beaded and carried overweight staff.
the ooni is not an Oba? is he not greater than all the kings in Yoruba land?

you're just another foolish kid trying to rubbish culture

Instead for development we are always find of lavishing money on all dis expired Kings who offer empty noises, Queen Elizabeth has never been extravagant but makes sure her citizens are ok but Nigeria different story entirely
Dude what is the annual budget of Queen Elizabeth? Do you know how much she gets annually from the Duchy of Lancaster?

She has Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Belmoral and several other stately homes used by her children and grandchildren like Clarence House. Yes I have visited all the palaces I mentioned above. Tourists go to see them.

Abeg talk what you know. Many people in UK and very many in New Zealand (where Queen is also their head of state) want the monarchy done away with.

Remember the top Kings in Nigeria today were rulers or even emperors of their their land before the British came. The British brought down our monarchies and use our wealth to strengthen their own economy and monarchy. Here you are saying what you do not know.

In Benin for example the Oba has to settle family disputes, land dispute, inter communal disputes, even local and national political disputes between people. Every resident in Benin/Edo, no matter how lowly has a right to be heard by the Oba if local chiefs and head of towns cannot satisfactorily resolve their grievances.

The Oba can still be sitting hearing cases up to 7pm. Which govt courts hear cases up to 7pm or later?

When you do not see the Oba at parties or occasions frequently, he has many local issues to attend to. Cases that would be in govt court for years unresolved if taken to court.

Even this Obaseki and Oshiomhole saga Oba has cautioned them. But when it becomes an open Political spat Oba has to keep away from it to maintain constitutional political neutrality.

I am sure most other kings have local issues they quietly resolve.

Let's educate ourselves first before we talk.
