Top leading music platform, MTV Base West Africa has released a list of Hottest Artistes for the year 2019.

According to MTV Base, Burna Boy is the hottest artiste of the year, Davido comes second, Zlatan and Naira Marley at three and four respectively while Wizkid came fifth.

Tiwa Savage is the only female that made it to the top 10 as she was placed at number 6 behind her close music partner, Wizkid.

MTV Base further revealed the criteria used in the selection which include Next their achievements, accolades , following, local international attention, their impact on youth, the numbers on digital platforms, their contents among others.


There is no doubt Burna Boy had the best outing in 2019 especially following his Grammy Award nomination which many Nigerians are hopeful of him winning.

Davido also did well especially with his A Good Time album and the remaking of Risky. A look at the top 20 also showed that the artistes (Mayorkun, Perruzzi) signed to his label DMW did well.

Following the selection, some fans of Wizkid were not happy as they took to social media to react stating that Wizkid should be above the duo of Naira Marley and Zlatan.
