The Joint Border Operation last week recorded a major setback as the Customs Area Controller of Ogun 1 Command, Compt. Michael Agbara reportedly ordered the shooting of one of the joint border drill operative along ldiroko axis.

Trouble started when the customs boss who was on his way out of the command headquarters, noticed a detachment of the ‘Exercise Swift Response’ reportedly on a stop and search operation between llase and Ajilete area of ldiroko.

He was said to have faulted their presence at the location following which he reportedly ordered their guns taken from them by his men.

Five of the six operatives handed over their weapons except one who reportedly told the area controller he was not under his command and therefore cannot hand over is gun.

Agbara reportedly ordered his men to disarm him, in the process of which the operative was shoot at close range, following the defense and hostility that ensued.

Sources said although the unfortunate operative was taken away still breathing, his gun wounds were said to be serious and life threatening.

The customs boss has since reported to the headquarters on summon, and is believed to be unndergoing probe.
