Sowore is a political journalist, he ran for office and got 33000 votes. He's more of a politician than a journalist right now. I saw this on Yahoo calling Sowore a journalist ignoring the fact that he's actually a politician.

So because you're male doesn't make u human again?

Sowore was a journalist and an activist b4 he contested in 2019, after the election he continued with his journalistic and activist calling. Because, for him, it's more of a calling than a profession.

How difficult is that to comprehend ?

Are you minding them?

Sowore did not campaign to win but to open the eyes of Nigerian youth that we can take back our country from the corrupt cabals controlling the government.

After the election ended, his activism continued.

The Presidency has condemned some international news outlets ascribing the detention and release of the Convener of Revolution Now, Omoyele Sowore, to journalism.

Malam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, said Sowore was detained and later released on bail today by the Department of State Service (DSS) not due to his work as a journalist but because he called for a revolution to overthrow the democratically elected government of Nigeria.

Shehu made the clarification in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday.

The presidential aide, therefore, frowned at those ascribing his detention and release to his job as a journalist.

The statement read in part: “The Presidency wishes to clarify the release on bail of the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in the February 2019 elections, Omowale Sowore

“Some international news outlets have mistakenly been describing his release as that of a journalist.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Buhari administration has never, since coming into office in 2015, detained a journalist, seized copies of newspapers or shut down a medium of information.

“However, the President wants an important lesson to be taught in the country – this is that – `we will obey the order and they will be let go and the processes will go.”

How come Garba Shehu felt so comfortable telling this lie (the bold part) without compunction? Is this how low they've sunk? They can't even pretend to be honest! When the army closed down Daily Trust and Police arrested Premium times editor nko? Besides why is Shehu crying as if Sowore is not a journalist? Were they not enjoying him in 2013/2014?

Talking of appeal, why did the FG feel too special and big to appeal immediately orders granting bail were issued? Why choose to abuse legal processes and disregard valid court rulings then months and years after, when they've come under international pressure to comply with the rule of law, they want to engage same institutions ie the courts?

I wish the judiciary will throw out every case by the FG attempting to resurrect these issues especially appealing bail ordersthey refused to obey initially! Something nerds to be done by the judiciary to teach litigants especially the Executive some lessons!

PMB overthrew a democratically elected government before. That's treason. The law if implemented would have been death by firing squad. He's still alive today by grace and so should know better. He also called for a revolution when he lost an election leading to loss of lives. There were threats to make the country ungovernable and there was a lot of violence thereafter. The government of the day didn't arrest him.

Besides Sowore's call for revolution by my understanding does not connote taking over the government. With which soldiers and arms will he achieve that? Or is it the 33000 voters in his support that will overturn the votes of millions?
Let's get real. Fighting for a change in the way government runs it's business is a revolution which does not necessarily involve a change of those in charge.

Sowore has always been an activist. We may not agree with his style or methods but he has a right to express himself.

A nonviolent revolution is a revolution using mostly campaigns with civil resistance, including various forms of nonviolent protest, to bring about the departure of governments seen as entrenched and authoritarian.

People who always look up to USA to dictate what happens in Nigeria are fools.

They are certainly not aware of the rot in USA and that even their president has been impeached by the lower chamber for abusing his powers as president.

Why hasn't Sowore gone to USA to demand revolution and overthrow of Trump administration if he won't be lynched to death by white supremacists and the KKK that supports Trump.

Shut up your dirt smelly mouth.

Sowore organized a protest named "revolution now."

Why are you obtuse? When did protest equal dethronement of government? Didn't Buhari organize several protests when he was in the opposition? Some of the protests, he even called for actual revolution.

Talking about Trump's impeachment, I am laughing that you are talking about abuse of powers, yet you support Buhari. If Buhari was to be the president in a sane country, he would have since been impeached since 2016 for gross abuse of power.

Garba Sheu and Femi Adeshina go and write today's date down, before june 2020.

Two of you shall be booted out of your positions in utter disgrace. And you shall never be able to engage with the public again like Reuben Abati, and Segum Adeniyi.

And all those who have taken over Baba Buhari's live, all of you are going down. By God's grace.

Obviously you lack the capacity to comprehend my post.

So if you want to describe a human being you will leave out his or her gender and just keep referring to the person as a human? Common sense dictates that the gender of the human being will be obvious in the write up. Describing Sowore as just another journalist is a fraud and a deliberate attempt to gain more sympathy.

He ran for office and not just any office, he ran for the highest office in the land. If you run for presidency in the US, anytime they want to write about you, they will start off with " former presidential candidate ". Even if he was a journalist, lawyer, or whatever.
Hiding is political escapades is a deliberate attempt hoodwinking the gullible.

“Sowore called for a revolution to overthrow the democratically elected government of Nigeria. He did so on television, and from a privileged position as the owner of a widely read digital newspaper run from the United States of America.

“He founded an organisation, Revolution Now, to launch, in their own words, “Days of Rage”, with the publicised purpose of fomenting mass civil unrest and the elected administration’s overthrow.

“No government will allow anybody to openly call for destabilization in the country and do nothing.

“The government believes strictly in observing the rule of law but must safeguard public security and will not allow trouble makers to incite the public and cause a breakdown of law and order.’’

Also, the presidential aide disclosed that Federal Government may appeal against the court judgments that granted bails to the former National Security Adviser, retired Col. Sambo Dasuki and Convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore.

Malam Garba Shehu stated this in an interview with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday while reacting to the presidential directive on the release of Dasuki and Sowore.

He said that the decision by the Nigerian government to release the affected persons on bail was informed by the need to observe the rules of the law.

“Not withstanding the right of the government which are very clear to it under the constitution of Nigeria to appeal this order for their release, to the Court of Appeal in fact to follow the entire judicial process leading up to the Supreme Court.

“The government has decided, as an important lesson, that compliance to the rule of law of the court of the land is important, government is asking them to go, is releasing them.

“The processes of their trials will continue and the government will be using the same process to assert its right also appealing the terms and conditions under which the court said they should be released.

“However, the President wants an important lesson to be taught in the country – this is that – `we will obey the order and they will be let go and the processes will go.”
