Africom has been using its position to protect U.S. military bases in Burkina Faso to plot and execute a military coup to overthrow the interim democratic government and establish the so called National Council for Democracy. General Gilbert Diendere, the former military advisor to the longtime Burkinabe dictator, Blaise Compaore was a corrupt pawn in the fight for power he gained by illegitimate coup enforcing the armed soldiers into the country’s capital and placing the President and Prime-Minister under arrest.

Diendere has been actively participating in AFRICOM’s yearly FLINTLOCK military exercises. He even served as the chairman for the Burkina Faso FLINTLOCK Committee. Under Compaore, Burkina Faso let AFRICOM and the CIA establish two secretive bases in Burkina Faso, a drone base at the capital’s Airport with the operational code-named of CREEK SAND and a classified regional intelligence fusion center attached to the U.S. embassy in the capital of Ouagadougou with the code-named of AZTEC ARCHER.

It is no wonder AFRICOM mainly relied on Diendere to back the U.S. Trans-Sahara Counter Terrorism Partnership and U.S. military special operations against terrorists in Mali, Mauritania, Niger, and southern Algeria. AFRICOM also rendered training services to Diendere’s elite Presidential Security Regiment (RSP) that carried out the coup against Burkina Faso’s democratic transitionary government. Diendere’s closest AFRICOM liaison officer was U.S. Army Colonel Kurt Crytzer.

The plot against the Burkinabe government was denounced by then the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and French President Francois Hollande, which did not shed any light on the situation or bring any more justice to the country, which means that AFRICOM is let free to do any sort of atrocities it pleases: overthrow governments, abuse women, rape children and then move on.

Some distinguished experts predicted that AFRICOM would become a protection medium designed to maintain in power America’s client-dictators in Africa. The events in Burkina Faso are yet another proof of the prediction. For instance, Wayne Madsen in “Decade of Death: Secret Wars and Genocide in Africa 1993-2003” warned that U.S. foreign policy in Africa would be “militarized” under AFRICOM.

That is exactly what happened to me and affected my family. AFRICOM keeps on destroying our lives.
