Just like popular song - After the reggae, play the blues - synonymously, after the frolicking moments of Detty December, comes the long-month of January which marks the beginning of every year.

No doubt, January of every year is considered a month which seems longer. Hence, it comes with range of financial burdens that keeps one thinking. For those with kids, they are faced with how to pay the children fees, while for those who are not gainfully employed, they are faced with plethora of demands and how to rationalize their various resources.

The truth remains that, January is perhaps the longest month of the year. Since the yuletide has passed, we’re back to reality, there's this sort of "calculative" strategy before spending on whatever demands or needs.

Many people embarked on sort of unaccounted spending in December, and now they are have to experience sort of financial hangover in January. January is one important month that teaches one lesson anyway, it's one of the perfect month to challenge your spending habits.

Trying to rationalize your spending in January isn’t just about challenging yourself for a single month, it’s about starting replicating it as you sojourn through other months. You've to think about it as a New Year resolution.

Tips on how to survive through month of January 2020

It's expedient to understand that the best way to spend more wisely is to align your spending with your budget and values. As an individual, you must be guided by your personal values.

You have a take a moment to write down the things that are most important to you in life. Hence, the usefulness of a budget plan cannot be over estimated.

A budget details the list out of one's required spending for the month. It is simply a plan for your money. Your budget should outline how your expenses measure up to your income.

It's therefore necessary for you to plan your spending and minimize overspending or sort of frivolous spending. You have to factor in expenses that occur regularly.

It's therefore important you have a budget to guide how you spend the little money you have in January till the end of the month because it will be too early to start borrowing from anyone.

So in summary,

1. Keep a careful track of your expenses

2. Spending is inevitable

3. Overspending is avoidable

4. Little saving is achievable

5. Be honest with yourself about your financial status.

It is crystal clear that December remains the most expensive month of the year for a lot of people, people spend so lavishly that they forget that another year cycle will kick-off.

So Dear Readers, spend your money wisely according to what you have in your budget.
