Here goes our top ten best songs of the decade.

10. Phyno ft Olamide – Fada fada


The popular ghetto gospel Fada Fada which is our No.10 on the list was released in 2016 by Phyno featuring fellow veteran artiste Olamide. The song was produced by Masterkraft. The song is literary talking about how God lifted them (phyno and olamide) from grass to grace.

In 2016, Fada Fada won the headies award for song of the year category. It also got nominations for the category of best pop single and producer of the year(headies).

9. Burna Boy – On The Low



The song which was released on November 2018 takes the number 9 spot in the hot list of our top 10 songs of the decade.

“On the low” which was produced by “kel p” is a mixture of both dancehall and Afro beats. The video was shot and directed by Meji Alabi. It is one of the biggest song of the decade with over 84 million views on YouTube.

8. Wizkid ft Drake – Come Closer



“Come closer” takes the number 8 spot on the countdown. It was released on March 31, 2019 featuring Canadian rapper and singer Aubrey Drake Graham popularly known as Drake. It is third lead single from Wizkid’s album “sounds from the other side.”

“come closer” which was produced by Sarz is a fusion of Hip hop and Rap. It won the headies award for viewer’s choice and best music video in 2018.

“Come closer” currently has a YouTube view of about 86 million.

7. D’banj – Oliver Twist



Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo popularly known as D’banj released a single titled “oliver twist” in the United Kingdom on May 11, 2012.

The song is said to be the first Nigerian song that made it through to the international scene thus paving the way easily for Nigerian artiste to break through.

On May 26, 2012 “Oliver twist” debuted at number nine on United kingdom’s single chat thus making it the first appearance for a Nigerian musician.

Oliver twist was produced by Mavin’s CEO and founder Don Jazzy and it is a fusion of Afrobeats and dancehall.

In 2014, Oliver twist was nominated by World music award for World’s best song and World’s best video. It also won the song of the year award and was nominated for best pop single in 2012 by headies.

6. P-square – personally



The now defunct music duo p-square released “personally” as a second single from their sixth studio album (double trouble) in 2014.

The song was said to be a tribute to the late king of pop Michael Jackson which earned them a recognition from the Jackson family.

The video was directed by Clarence Peters and Jude Engees Okoye. It also featured Nollywood veteran actor, Osita Iheme.

In 2013, it was nominated for the “soul train music awards” for Best international performance. While in 2014 it was nominated for the song of the year at MTV Africa Music Awards. It was also nominated for the best music video of the year at the 2014 Nigerian Entertainment Awards. “Personally ” was also nominated for most gifted dance at the 2014 Channel O Music Video Awards.

5. Davido – If



If was released on February 16, 2017 by David Adeleke popularly known by his stage name Davido.

The song gained many international recognition which also made American singer R-kelly to produce a cover for the song.

If was produced by talented Nigerian singer Tekno. It was also the most played song on Nigerian radio in 2017.

If which has over 97 million views on YouTube was said to change Davido’s musical career for good as it took him to the highest level of African music.

If won the song of the year category at the headies awards 2018. It also won the best pop single category at the headies awards 2018. It also won both the video of the year award and the song of the year award at the sound city musical awards in 2018.

4. Runtown – Mad Over You



“Mad over you” was released on November 4, 2016 by Douglas Jack Agu popularly known by his stage name Runtown.

It was produced by Del B but was said to be assisted by both runtown and T – spize.

Runtown’s Mad over you is said to be the originator of pon pon sound in Nigeria which is the latest sound around also taking our No. 4 spot on the countdown.

Mad over you is a fusion of highlife and R&B. It garnered over 2 million views on Spotify which is a streaming media service as of march 2017.

Mad over you won the award for viewer’s choice at the sound city musical awards 2018.

In headies 2018, it was nominated for the best pop single, song of the year and viewer’s choice award. It was also nominated for the best single at the 2017 Nigerian Entertainment Awards.

3. Tekno – pana



No. 3 on our list Pana was released in 2016 by Augustine Miles Kelechi popularly known by his stage name Tekno.

It was produced by krizbeats. Pana has garnered over 116 million views on YouTube.

In 2016, pana was nominated for the best African male video, African video of the year, best West African video and the best afro pop video of the year at the WatsUp TV Africa Music Video Awards. It was also nominated for best single by the Nigerian Entertainment Awards.

2. Wizkid – Ojuelegba


“Ojuelegba” which sits at No. 2 position on our list was released by wizkid in 2014 from his second studio album, Ayo.

It was produced by legendary beatz (record producing duo).

Ojuelegba is a populous place in Lagos. Wizkid talked about the days of his early beginnings where he struggled and hustled to work.

The song gained international recognition in 2014 and a remix was done featuring both skepta and Canadian rapper Drake.

On February 2015, Ojuelegba peaked at number 1 on capital extra afrobeats charts.

Ojuelegba won awards for song of the year and producer of the year (legendary beatz) at the headies 2016. It also won the Nigerian Entertainment Awards for hottest single of year.

Ojuelegba was nominated for best recording of the year and best pop single at the headies 2016 award. It also got nominated for popular song of the year at the city music people award in 2015.

Ojuelegba is said to be one of wizkid’s most successful single till date.

1. Davido – Fall


Fall which is our No. 1 song on the list was produced by Kiddominant. It became the longest Nigerian pop song on billboard history in 2019.

Fall was said to be ranked at number 163 on Pitchfork’s list of the top 200 best songs of the 2010s.

Fall is also said to be one of Davido’s best song till date.

Fall has a mouthwatering 153 million views on YouTube which makes it the Nigerian music video with the highest views. Also making it nigeriainfo247.com's Nigerian song of the decade.
