How To Make Sure You Send Your Job Application To The Right Place by Brightgem(f): 9:28am On Dec 31, 2019
What if I told you that thousands of job applications “miss road” if I’m to use the typical Naija parlance.

Yes, you feel you have sent a job application, you start having great hopes, but sorry, your application never got to the right place. E don miss road.
How does this happen? There could be a number of other ways these applications get directed to the wrong place, but the two most profound ones I know are;

1. Emails - You see a job posting online. You see an email to send your application to, you go ahead. But it’s still wrong. Suffice to say, even the online platforms are providing you the wrong information. Keep reading to figure how to avoid this.
2. Using the job boards – In this case the site you saw the job posting has a button that says “apply now” to apply, you have to sign up to the site, like register with them, then upload your CV and cover letter and you think you have applied for the job. Nope!

Job boards can give you a previously used email address provided by an organization in a current opening. Job boards sometimes also make you sign up or register on their site and provide your information yet doing so, does not mean you have sent your application to the right receivers.

So what’s the one guaranteed method to ensuring your application lands in the right place?

You must look up the organization with the opening for the job you want on the internet. Find them, look through their site carefully and see if they have their job postings. Only through the site will you often find the right way to apply for the job you need. You may find that you have to fill an online form with all the information required for the job, and after you do, you receive an automated email informing you that your application has been received, sometimes you only see this response after you have clicked submit application.

This means anyone who did not use the form as provided by the organization to send in their job application, has not applied for a job.

IF the organization does not list their own openings on their site, then make sure multiple job boards are showing you the same e-mail address to send your application to, that way you are sure you are sending it to the correct platform.

In some few cases too, the job sites like Jobberman could be serving as a recruiter for the organization, hence you can only apply for the job through them.

What matters is that you do your homework well, before sending that precious application you have invested time in composing by putting together your CV and cover letter.

Hope that helps.

Did you know that sometimes when you apply for a job, a software, not a person, reads your CV. So how can you increase your chances of getting picked as a good candidate?

Did you know that thousands of job applications never get to the right receivers? You too could be sending your job application to the wrong channels that is why you are not getting any jobs. You can learn how to do it right and ensure your applications get to the right place.

Did you know that as a young graduate there are ways you can easily get that job experience that places others at an advantage?

Do you know that even if an organization has no job opening you can use some other methods to get a job with them? It’s called building a door of opportunity even where there is none.

Searching for a job is a job in itself!
