As the entire world ushered in the New Year on Wednesday, the first day of 2020 seems to have gone completely unnoticed by Customs officials at Khartoum International Airport, Sudan.

A photograph the passport exit stamp dated 32nd December has gone viral on social media after it was shared by a Twitter user, @mangez_

She captioned the post, "2019 hasn't ended in Sudan ".

Other users on Twitter commented and shared their theories on the surprising date of the Exit Visa stamped on the International Passport.

Some joked that the year 2019 had been extended in Sudan, while others put forward the more likely theory that it might have been an unintended mistake.

"When you are afraid of 2020," one user commented.

Sudan is in turmoil as protesters took to the street in historic mass demonstrations that led to the ouster of former dictator Omar al-Bashir and continued because the military refused to relinquish power to a civilian government.
