Nigeria had the biggest global drop in visitors to the US last year as Trump visa policies took hold
By Yomi Kazeem & Dan Kopf

The travel measures taken against Nigeria by the United States last year are starting to have a clear and, potentially, long-term effect.

Data from the US travel and tourism office shows Nigeria recorded the largest global drop-off in visitors to the US. As of October 2019, 34,000 fewer Nigerians traveled to the US compared to the previous year—a 21% drop. After a sustained period of growth between 2011 and 2015, the number of Nigerian visitors to the US started to plateau in 2016 until the big drop-off last year.

That’s evident. Ever since Trump resumed we have seen a rise in the rate of denials even for master’s student that normally have an easy ride when they have some sort of university funding on their I-20.

The only set of people that have like 85% chances of visa are the Phd students.

People on B1/B2 visa are always denied like Peter everyday and one would but wonder the sins of Nigeria against the consulate.

Well a lot of Nigerians support Trump, when he finishes dealing with us, he will make sure Nigerians are kept out of the USA and that figure would have risen to 95% visa denial rate by 2024 if he gets re-elected.

Good... maybe when they all shut their doors, we would think to fix Nigeria.

America's lost is some other Western or Asian country's gain because Nigerians must travel. Nigerians did travel for leisure, education, medical tourism or permanent relocation in 2019. America is not the only place that one can go.

Wishful thinking -- The people elected to "fix" Nigeria will forever be able to travel out. Nigerians in diaspora send over 20 billion dollars annually to the country; this will reduce that in the long run.

God bless Nigeria. Let see the statistics at the ended of it all. The end justify the means.
