BREAKING: U.S. Kills Two Top Iranian Military Leaders, Bigger Than Bin Laden, Al-Baghdadi, Reports Say
By Ryan Saavedra
DailyWire.com

U.S. military forces have reportedly killed two top Iranian military commanders involved in terrorism on Thursday night in Iraq in an airstrike in what analysts said was a significantly bigger deal than the killing of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Iranian Major-General Qassem Soleimani, head of the Quds Force, and Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were the two Iranian military leaders who were killed.

BBC reporter Ali Hashem reported: “My sources suggesting that commander of IRGC Quds force Qassem Suleimani and Deputy chief of PMU Abu Mahdi AlMuhandes were in the convoy hit by the U.S. airstrike near Baghdad airport Iraq.”

Hashem later noted that Iraqi state media reportedly confirmed the news with a PMU source.

“The American and Israeli enemy is responsible for killing the mujahideen Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and Qassem Soleimani,” Ahmed al-Assadi, a spokesman for Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces umbrella grouping of Iran-backed militias, told Reuters.

“The attack appears to have been an airstrike that hit two vehicles,” The New York Times reported. “The strike was the second attack at the airport within hours. An earlier attack, late Thursday, involved three rockets that did not appear to have caused any injuries.”

The United States State Department released the following information about the Qods Force, which is a terrorist organization that Qassem Suleimani was in charge of:

• The IRGC—most prominently through its Qods Force—has the greatest role among Iran’s actors in directing and carrying out a global terrorist campaign.
• In recent years, IRGC Qods Force terrorist planning has been uncovered and disrupted in many countries, including Germany, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Kenya, Bahrain, and Turkey.
• The IRGC Qods Force in 2011 plotted a brazen terrorist attack against the Saudi Ambassador to the U.S. on American soil. Fortunately, this plot was foiled.
• In September 2018, a U.S. federal court found Iran and the IRGC liable for the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing which killed 19 Americans.
• In 2012, IRGC Qods Force operatives were arrested in Turkey for plotting an attack and in Kenya for planning a bombing.
• In January 2018, Germany uncovered ten IRGC operatives involved in a terrorist plot in Germany, and convicted another IRGC operative for surveilling a German-Israeli group.

Numerous analysts said that the airstrike killing the two leaders was greater than the killing of bin Laden and al-Baghdadi.

AJC Global analyst Julie Lenarz tweeted: “If you multiply the death of Osama bin Laden and Abu Bakr al Baghdadi you begin to understand the significance of Soleimani’s death. This man controlled the most powerful state-controlled army of terror.”

Free Beacon writer Noah Pollak wrote: “If this is true, and I hope it is, it’s a bigger deal for the Middle East than the bin Laden raid or the killing of Mughniyeh in 2008. A much, much bigger deal.”

The National Washington Correspondent Joyce Karam tweeted, “Hard to understate how big this is • Qassem Suleimani is Iran’s most powerful mil figure in Region • He runs Iran’s proxies in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq • Both men designated by US as Terrorist • Muhandis was at US embassy attack protest, calls himself ‘Suleimani soldier.'”

Sincerely, one must give it to the US

Coordinated assassination.

And US troops already touched down in Kuwait.

Won't be surprised to hear about a bombardment tomorrow morning.

Look at how they killed these ones. They killed the most senior Iranian military figure like a chicken. And Iran would be making noise about.
What this means is that they can actually kill the Iranian Supreme Leader like a chicken if they want to.

I won't be surprised if ISIS enters Iran now. That would keep Iran busy for sometime. Good Cop - Bad Cop.

Leave him.
How he behaves himself would determine his number in the roster.

Iran killed an American, America killed 25.
Iran attacked an Embassy, they killed the most senior Iranian military figure.

Who is next in Iran?

US airstrike kills Qassim Soleimani, head of Iran's elite Quds Force, at Baghdad airport

3 JANUARY 2020 • 3:47AM

General Qassim Soleimani, head of Iran's elite Quds Force, was killed in a US airstrike at Baghdad's international airport early on Friday, a major escalation in US-Iran tensions that will roil the region.

The strike also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of Iran-backed militias known as the Popular Mobilization Forces, or PMF.

The Pentagon said US President Donald Trump ordered the killing of Soleimani "in a decisive defensive action to protect US personnel abroad".

"General Soleimani was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region. General Soleimani and his Quds Force were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American and coalition service members and the wounding of thousands more," the Department of Defence said.

After the attack, Mr Trump tweeted a picture of the American flag, without any explanation.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

The killing of Soleimani is a major blow for Iran. Together with the death of al-Muhandis, the attack could mark a potential turning point in the Middle East and is expected to draw severe retaliation from Iran and the forces it backs in the Middle East against Israel and American interests.

Iranian official vows 'vigorous revenge'

Mohsen Rezaei, a former commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, vowed "vigorous revenge against America" for the killing of Soleimani.

"Martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Suleimani joined his martyred brothers, but we will take vigorous revenge on America," Rezaei, who is now the secretary of a powerful state body, said in a post on Twitter

Iraqi paramilitary groups said three rockets hit Baghdad International Airport, killing five members of Iraqi paramilitary groups and two "guests."

Iran's Revolutionary Guard said Soleimani was "martyred" in an attack by US helicopters near the airport, without elaborating.

A high-level Iraqi security official told AP that al-Muhandis had arrived at the airport in a convoy to welcome Soleimani whose plane had arrived from either Lebanon or Syria. The airstrike occurred as soon as he descended from the aircraft to be greeted by al-Muhandis and his companions, killing them all.

A PMF official said the dead also included its airport protocol officer, identifying him as Mohammed Reda.

A senior Iraqi politician told AP that Soleimani's body was identified by the ring he wore.

US equity futures fell and Asian stocks reversed earlier gains as the news broke and oil soared. Treasury futures climbed with the yen as investors sought safer haven assets. Futures on the S&P 500 dropped 0.7% as of 10:46 a.m. in Hong Kong on Friday. Brent crude surged 3.3%.

Soleimani seen as future potential leader of Iran

Both al-Muhandis and Soleimani have been sanctioned by the United States.

Soleimani, who has led the foreign arm of the Revolutionary Guards and has played a central role in fighting in Syria and Iraq, acquired celebrity status at home and abroad.

Seen as a potential future leader of Iran, he was instrumental in the spread of Iranian influence in the Middle East.

He survived several assassination attempts against him by Western, Israeli and Arab agencies over the past two decades.

Soleimani had been rumoured dead several times, including in a 2006 airplane crash that killed other military officials in northwestern Iran and following a 2012 bombing in Damascus that killed top aides of embattled Syrian President Bashar Assad. More recently, rumours circulated in November 2015 that Soleimani was killed or seriously wounded leading forces loyal to Assad as they fought around Syria's Aleppo.

The attack came amid tensions with the United States after a New Year's Eve attack by Iran-backed militias on the US Embassy in Baghdad. The two-day embassy attack, which ended on Wednesday, prompted Mr Trump to order about 750 US soldiers deployed to the Middle East.

Mr Trump said on Tuesday that Iran would “be held fully responsible” for the attack on the embassy.

The killing of Soleimani was welcomed by Republicans in the US.

Lindsey Graham, senator of South Carolina, threatened Iran with attacks on its oil refineries if it continues to target US interests.

If Iran continues to attack America and our allies, they should pay the heaviest of prices, which includes the destruction of their oil refineries.

Lindsey Graham

To the Iranian government: If you want to stay in the oil business leave America and our allies alone and stop being the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world.
2,054

"Thank you, Mr. President, for standing up for America," Mr Graham said. "If Iran continues to attack America and our allies, they should pay the heaviest of prices, which includes the destruction of their oil refineries."

The breach at the embassy followed US airstrikes on Sunday that killed 25 fighters of the Iran-backed militia in Iraq, the Kataeb Hezbollah. The US military said the strikes were in retaliation for last week's killing of an American contractor in a rocket attack on an Iraqi military base that the U.S. blamed on the militia.

Americans, both civilian and military, all around the mideast better double-up on their security because Iran will retaliate. I am not sure if Trump is ready to engage in a full blown military confrontation with Iran and her proxies in the mideast at this point in time. The coming days promise to be very unpredictable and volatile in that region.

Iran killed 1 American contractor, 2 days later, America killed 27 Iranian fighters.

The events of today show that no one has the monopoly of madness. I don't like Trump but Iran overstretched their luck.

By now you should understand that these Mideast folks don't care about casualty figures the way Americans do. All they need do is kill a handful of U. S service men to put Trump on the hot seat in America. No be today America (or Israel) begin kill Arabs/Middle Easterners like chickens. The real question is how far would Trump be willing to go in the event of an Iranian response that inflicts a high casualty on Americans and her interests? Is America ready to go to war again in the mideast?

You'll realise that after they killed more than 2 dozen Iranians and Iran carried their madness to the American Embassy, the US has dropped their most senior military figure in Iran.

Iran now knows that if they try further nonsense, the US is capable of wiping out their leadership.

What I'm waiting for is the response of Russia and China. If you're online, you can stream Aljazeera. One Iranian clown is crying rule of law, bla bla.

You are still missing the point dude. Americans value human lives more than the avarage suicide-inclined Iranian/fanatic/ISIS/Middle Eastern. Therefore you are being naive in your line of thought. It's like saying you want to kill somebody that is already suicidal. Iran is being ruled by a bunch of religious and suicidal lunatics that actually intend to provoke another world war that they hope would usher in the reign of their own version of the Christian 'messiah' (whom they call the 'madhi' or '12th imam'). Try and read up on that if you get a chance. Iran is a suicidal state that doesn't see or value human life the way the average American does, and glorifies martyrdom. Irans's foreign policy is premised on provocation because it knows no matter what it does, America's response won't go past a certain point. Why else do you think America and Israel are adamant that Iran must not get the H-bomb? Simple reason is because Iran would not hesitate to use it against its enemies. I repeat that Iran is a suicidal state, even more so than North Korea. It's foreign policy is hinged on/driven by an extremist messianic ideology.

Hmmm

These usual war-mongering tactics. Their defense budget needs to be spent and ammo needs to be tested.

War is an annual budget for the US.

Iran will respond in kind, directly or by proxy.

The battleground remains, Iraq and Syria plus Afghanistan.

Lol. Ok na. I hear you. The difference between Iran and America is that, when Iran kills or kidnaps just 2 Americans in retaliation, war-weary Americans will blame Trump and turn it into a political issue, while Iranians will praise their own dead as 'martyrs' with many more signifying readiness to die in similar fashion.

More crises for Trump and an average American. This is unnecessary. Trump is committing a huge mistake by canceling the initial agreement reached with Iran.

Firstly, US can't even manage the ongoing crises she created in the past with Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Libya and others. Who's advising Trump? Crises in Libya is still a crisis in some parts of Europe. Germany already has millions of refugees from Syria. These are countries of smaller populations yet you seriously want to destabilize another country of 70-80 million people all at once.

The entire America with Europe would have a serious impact if Iran is set into crises. In fact, the entire world feel this impact because by the time 40 percent of oil output is cut off due to total blockage of Strait of Hormuz. The global market would respond immediately. This is not a wise choice. Even in Nigeria, a litre of petrol may go as far as N500

Impeachment and election politics by Trump.

Usual republican tactics while approaching tricky presidential elections: Try to start a war and rally the country behind you. Before you know it election is won while lives of American soldiers are sacrificed on the altar of politics.

When he tore up the Iran nuclear deal,i told friends that he will start a war with Iran closer to the election .
