The Gregorian calendar which we all use is not the same as the Church calendar. Why it is always attributed to Christians baffles me.

Even Saudi Arabia uses the Gregorian calendar for some official purposes.

1st of January is celebrated the world over since its of general application. The government can choose to desist from making it a work free day to satisfy Prof. and balance the equation. Let's see how that goes.

Meanwhile I don't see him fighting for better schools and bringing up ideas on how to tackle the time bomb of millions of street kids AKA almajiris.

AdaJesus1:

you're talking nonsense
what respect are you talking about
fact is that Christians are not fanatics like you Muslims that do things "according to Allah"
so it's not our fault if muslim holidays are not that popular

Muslims if I'm right enjoys 3 different holidays in a year and each carries two days public holidays

Christians enjoys only two and same two days public holidays

Christians don't go to work on Muslim holidays as far as it's government establishment so do Muslims
so what respect are you talking about mr?

This prof is a big fool. He thinks by engaging in controversies, he will be loved by the northerners. When e set, you go know say northerners do not believe that Yoruba's are true Muslim's. Go and ask the Yoruba Muslim's in kaduna and in Kano how far.

That's not the point though. The point is about respect for the day. Actually, I disagree with the prof, but not in this context.

The earlier people understand the embolden the better.
The beginning of the church calendar (advent) often falls on the first Sunday in December.
