U.S. military officials were warned about Iran’s pending ballistic missile strike “when the air defense systems went active,” shortly before the attack was launched, a U.S. official in Baghdad told Fox News on Wednesday.

U.S. intelligence picked up "chatter" from Iran and inside Iraq, tipping off American forces to strike around 1:30 a.m. local time -- or 5:30 p.m. ET. Soon after, Iran launched more than a dozen short-range ballistic missiles into Iraq, striking military bases housing American and coalition troops.

Officials said there were no reported casualties.

Pentagon officials told Fox News the advance warning of the Iranian missile attack is the reason Defense Secretary Mark Esper held a hasty press conference Tuesday afternoon. He said he wanted to offer Iran an off-ramp talk "without preconditions," he told reporters.

U.S. officials said they could see Iranian ballistic missiles movement Tuesday, thanks to U.S. Air Force early warning aircraft, flying radar, circling high overhead in the region. The suspicious Iranian activity also was monitored from American spy satellites in space, officials said.

According to early damage assessments from the two Iraqi bases, 11 Iranian ballistic missiles -- 10 at al-Asad and one at Irbil -- landed in areas where there were no American troops. This explains why there were no U.S. or coalition casualties, officials said. Four other Iranian missiles failed to hit their targets.

It appears everything was just arranged. The US and Iraqi governments knew ahead of time that the military base would be attacked so they evacuated all their soldiers. Now, all the countries involved are talking peace. So many things happened underground that we are not aware of.

Your first comment stated that Iran would nuke US assets close to Israel. Let me answer this before I focus on some errors on your analysis.
Where did you hear Iran has nuclear weapons?
Even Iran said they would start working on their nuclear plants, they are not there yet.

Secondly, you said the world won't let USA nuke Iran, how did you come to that conclusion?
Who is the world? US has been doing all they want without any country saying anything or stopping them.
NATO is run by them and also their allies would do the usual support talks as usual.

You had to put some conditions, at least you know.

Finally, Iran and USA already had some sort of agreement through the Iraqi leaders to allow these missiles so as to calm the nerves of their people at home.


Everything is on code, don't think things are done without some sort of agreements.

The response by Iran was deliberately calculated to be proportional my friend. If Iran wanted to actually kill Americans with this first move, they knew how and where to do it e.g launching cruise missiles at US consulates/embassies that abound in the region and not military bases where the uniformed people can take shelter in bunkers. It all depends on the next move of the US.

This was intended to send a clear message to the US.

I believe the real revenge will come in the form of actions carried out by proxy militias loyal to Iran in the region against US interests in weeks, months or even years to come e.g ambushes on US military convoys etc.
