Britain’s Foreign Office on Saturday said the country’s ambassador in Tehran was briefly detained by Iranian authorities during protests against the regime, and denounced the arrest as a “flagrant violation of international law”, AFP reported.

British envoy Rob Macairewas arrested for several hours in front of Amir Kabir University for inciting anti-government protestors, according to Tehran-based Tasnim news agency. A group of students reportedly gathered inside the university to protest Iran’s admission that it shot down a Ukrainian airliner. Macaire was released a few hours later and will be summoned for further explanations.

“The arrest of our Ambassador in Tehran without grounds or explanation is a flagrant violation of international law,” UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said in a statement. “The Iranian government is at a crossroads moment. It can continue its march towards pariah status with all the political and economic isolation that entails, or take steps to de-escalate tensions and engage in a diplomatic path forwards,” Raab added.

You are late in the game. The CIA/MI6 have organized about six major protests in more than 30 years against the mullahs. Not one has really worked. They instigated Saddam to invade the country, still did not work.
Iran has been battling multiple sanctions, drug epidemics and natural disasters still nothing doing.

People always forget that Iranians are not Arab. They are European - like. They are millions of them in Canada and the US which is like second home. The country with the highest numbers of PhD in Engineering might just be Iran after India.

The Canadian / US Iranians are the ones who have bern fighting to overthrow the Mullahs but the message has to be crafted right the way Obama was doing. If Trump and the UK follow their current policy direction they will fail. These westernized Iranians dont also want Iran to stop their nuclear program.
Nuclear programs are the pride of countries. So someone should tell Trump and Boris that the world is more complex than they think. Iran should also stop saying they want to destroy Itself that is mission impossible

I will agree with you but not 100%.
Why it did not success was because the protesters did not have a well loved and pragmatic crusader to follow.
