Millionaire snail farmers are intentional from the start and they specifically administer a good management to their snails in some purpose-built facility to meet the demands of both the glut and scarcity seasons. Many smart people are beginning to rear snails in the rainy season and in the dry season. You know, the season is from April-October/November. While, the dry season is from November-April/May each year.

The Matchless Competition
The competition in the snail farming business is usually between those who go picking up snails in the wild and those who devise some form of a convenient housing system to rear snails for commercial purpose.

A Snail Farming Model that Leads to Poverty
In the rainy season, those who do not necessarily have to build any housing facility just go with bags into the wild to pick up snails and sell in the open market. These poor guys offer their snails for sale in the open market at ridiculously cheap prices. They don’t have a plan to earn megabucks all year round, the snails they pick up from the wild eat shit and climate change is going to mess up their income plan. They are going to remain broke forever !
You don’t want to be like them. You have to make money ‘in season and out of season’. So with the prevailing dry season, a serious scarcity has set in, and it would really feel painful if you did not position yourself to grab this great opportunity to make serious profits with your snail business.

Choose Your Snail Breed like a Mogul
Depending on the specie of snail you breed, but if you choose to rear the Archatina Marganita (AM) snail specie; then you would need to wait for at least 8-10 months before harvesting mature snails to sell to your target market. This harvest of mature snails continues every year on an amazing scale. The archatina marginata (AM) snail specie is also called the giant West African snail. It can grow up to 20cm long and live for up to a decade.

Snail Eggs Hatchability
If each snail has a hatchability rate of 70% and at least 40 eggs are laid,
This implies: 500 times 40 times 70% = 14, 000
From the above calculation, we assume you began with 500 snails. This means we shall be expecting a minimum of 14, 000 hatchlings after some time.

Mortality Rate for the Snail Hatchlings
Also, if we assumed a mortality rate of 20% for the 14, 000 hatchlings;
This implies: 20% times 14, 000 hatchlings= 2, 800 hatchlings
If at most a mortality incidence of 2, 800 out of 14, 000 hatchlings are expected, then we would have 11, 200 left.
Remember we began with 500 point of lay snails and with a mortality rate of 20%; we might be losing 20% of 500 point of lay snails after one year.
I.e. 20% times 500 =100
500-100 =400
So after about 8-9 months of your snail farming business which you began with 500 point of lay snails, you would have at least 400 foundation stock left and at least 11, 200 point of lay snails which could be sold in the open market or in some of the standard markets emerging in the different states of the federation.

Sales-Profit Analysis
Sales of produced 11, 200 snails @ N500 after 1 year is = N5, 600, 000
Mind you, your snails have to be really big and you have to do a proper research that helps you find a market that is willing to pay a premium price for snails.
So, sales=N5, 600, 000

Revenue from 500 snails with a startup capital of N2,585,000 after 1 year is N5,600,000.
Hence, profit= N5,600,000 - N2,585,000= N3,015,000

Secret Management Tips Millionaire Snail Farmers Use for Skyrocketing Their Profits

#1. Get some a sound training or outsource the management of your snail pen to some experts.

#2. Build a snail house large enough to accommodate as many snails that could help satisfy your financial goal this.

#3. Make a provision for water supply. You would lose plenty of money if you ever rear snails without a provision for water supply.Snails are water-lovers. They perform very well wherever the soil is sufficiently moist because it is very easy for them to get easily dehydrated. Creating a suitable soil condition to help you make money steadily with your snail business is strategic because snails absorb calcium for their shells, they get water and lay eggs in the soil. The underscores why the soil in your snailfarm should not be too wet nor too dry.

#4. Buy quality point of lay snails from a reputable source.
A quality point of lay snail begins egg-laying between 30-60 days.Once a snail is hatched, it should reach sexual maturity around 6-8 months.
Snails begin to lay eggs when they reach sexual maturity and when their weight reaches between 110-125 grams. Snails lay eggs both in the rainy season and in the dry season, if they are well-watered and well-fed.

#5. Manage the snails using best practices

#6. As a snail farmer seeking to make money rearing snails, you should write down important events, inputs or outputs in your snail farm everyday. This in no small way plays an important role in the determination of selling, profitability when your harvested snails are ready to hit the market.

#7. Harvest the mature snails and market them profitably

Understand the Different Stages in the Life of a Snail
The three stages in the life of a snail we shall be discussing through this medium include:
I. Hatchlings
II. Growers
III. Breeders

Hatchlings
A hatchling is a newly-hatched snail from any snail egg in your snail farm. So, I hope this definition is simple enough ? Snail hatchlings are really quite tender and sensitive so a lot of attention should be put into providing them with a humid condition and enough calcium. At this stage, hatchlings need calcium for the development of strong shells more than when they have reached sexual maturity. You could feed your snails with leafy vegetables, fruit vegetables and other crops such as cocoyams etc. common examples of vegetables your snail could be fed with include: watermelon, pawpaw, green etc.

Furthermore, since your snail farm business is set up as a Launchpad to your financial freedom; I advise that you act smartly by installing some form of escape proof to prevent the undesirable incidence of your adventurous snails (big or small) trying to escape or being attacked by some predatory elements such as birds, snakes, lizards etc.
Here, snail farming experts advise that hatchlings and juveniles should be kept in a clean pen at a rearing density of 100 for every square meter.

Growers
When your snail hatchlings reach about three months of age, you should move them into a separate pen and observe a rearing density of 30-40 snails for each square meter. you could enhance the development of your grower snails by serving them compounded feeds rich in crude proteins, calcium and phosphorus. Notwithstanding, you still have to feed them with their usual diet.

Breeders
Next, when your grower snails get to 10 to 12 months of age, you should move them into separate boxes or pens and observe a rearing density of 10-15 snails per square meter.
You could also loosen the soil to make the process of egg-laying easier. Breeder snail feeds should be rich in crude proteins and calcium. If you happen to find any snail eggs on the surface of the soil, what you could do is use s little stick to dig a hole that is just about 1cm to 2cm deep, lay the egg inside and cover with some soil.
Naturally, the soil loosens itself for the emergence of the snail hatchlings. So, you should make efforts to move the breeders away to prevent the incidence of cannibalism. Cannibalism is undesirable and could greatly minimize the profit-making potentials of your snail farm.

Water Supply in Your Snail Farm
The supply of water in your snail farm actually depends on the model of snail farming that you are operating. But ordinarily, water could be supplied around your snail farm using the following means:
Hand-wetting with a watering can
If you are a rain-fed snail farmer, you have to depend on rainfall to do the wetting for you.
The use of overhead water sprinkler
The use of drip tapes
The essence of supplying water in and around your snail farm is to ensure the soil is humid enough to support the growth of the water-loving snails. On water supply, I remember one of my mentors devised a technique for checking the presence of sufficient moisture in the soil. This method of checking the presence of sufficient moisture in the soil is not a ‘one size fits all’. It actually depends on the water requirement for the specific livestock or crop in question. If you are using such a millionaire system where snails in your snail farm have crops grown specially for their feeding, then you would need to learn how to supply enough water to the soil. Remember, too much water supply on the soil is a problem.

Snail Marketing/Sale Analysis

Open Market
The buyers in the open market prefer to buy snails in bulk. This is what I mean. They prefer you sell them in bags. To really make a kill, your snails should have a BIG size and be FRESH.
Sale of 1 big live AM snail (in the open market) is N300 times 11 200 = N3, 360, 000

Standard Market
But, if you were offering your snails for sale in standard market operators like Shoprite and the, like, there is every tendency you would be making a greater profit. Let me state something interesting. With a good approach to them, you might even land yourself a deal to supply them snails every year. To succeed with such regular supply offer, you need to set up an intensive paddock system.

Export Market
You could explore the possibility of selling your live snails, snail shells, snail slimes and processed snail meat to buyers in other countries of the world. Serving the export market has its own challenges, but it presents you the opportunity to earn major foreign currencies (USD, Pounds Sterling and Euros).
Do necessary due diligence before selling your snail products. If one market isn’t offering or willing to pay a premium price for your processed snails meat, live snails, snail shells, snail slimes etc explore some others.

Top Secret: Selling to a target market that is willing to pay a premium price for your product(s) could make you a millionaire quite fast.
