Viral and verifable news has it that Osinbajo was in Kano on Monday, where he commissioned the Aminu Alhassan Dantata flyover in Sabon Gari, Kano state. This is one of many groundbreaking projects constructed by the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje administration. He also commissioned the Tijjani Hashim underpass in Kofar Ruwa.

The VP attended the foundation-laying ceremony of the Sheikh Karibullah Nasiru Kabara flyover, and turning of the sod at the ongoing construction of the multi-billion naira Kano Cancer Centre, which is located in the Muhammad Buhari Specialist Hospital, Giginyu.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo led the attempt to develop a common ground between the states and the Federal Government on the issue of Amotekun. This was of great importance as the federal government, through the Attorney-General of the Federation & Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami had declared Operation Amotekun illegal.

Operation Ametokun is the security outfit launched on Thursday 9th of January, 2020 by the governors of the 6 South-West states. Amotekun is primarily aimed at providing additional security for the people of the Southwest.

The security outfit has its headquarters in Gbongan, Osun State and will take off with 120 patrol vehicles for the policing of the six states, Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo and Ogun state. Personnel will include hunters, OPC members and others.

Community policing was one of the suggestions of the VP when he visited the Obas (kings) and governors of the Southwest states in Nigeria to address the security challenges on major highways in the southwestern region of the nation.

Strong indications emerged on Wednesday 15th of January, 2020 that the Presidency have begun to weigh a number of options to incorporate Operation Amotekun based on the move of the Vice President.
