The dry seasons are still on.
it is a season for increased outbreaks of Lassa fever.
WHY IS IT SO?
1. Bush burning during the dry season chases rats into our home
they become domesticated and may feed on or urinate or defecate on our foodstuffs (or utensils)
2. increased hunting of rats during the dry season, with the intent of feasting on them.
Most of the roasted rats are poorly heated with the virus still alive.
3. Increased in the spreading of processed cassava(garri) and cassava flakes (Abacha)on the tarred road, for the purpose of drying them under the scorching sun.
the rats may play around and inside the foodstuffs and during this period, urinate or defecate on them.
Any attempt to eat these foodstuffs unheated or poorly heated increases risk.
if you buy commercially prepared garri, please resist the temptation of drinking it.
