Etang Orders Timely Completion of A'Ibom NDDC Office

The Executive Director of Finance and
Administration, Niger Delta Development
Commission (NDDC) Chief Ibanga Etang
has ordered the contractor handling the
construction of Akwa Ibom State
permanent office of NDDC to return to
site and ensure timely completion of the
office complex.

Etang, accompanied by the Commission's Executive Director of Project, Dr.Cairo
Ojougboh on an unscheduled visit to Uyo temporary office at Ewet Housing Estate, decried the slow pace of work at the permanent site of the Commission, urged the contractor to expedite action that would led to the completion and handover of the project to the Commission.

According to him, “with the Interim Management Committee of the
Commission, all government money
misappropriated by contractors without
project execution shall be needed and recovered by the Commission.”

He urged contractors in the region to
return to project sites in all the Niger
Delta States, saying the Interim
Management Committee task, as
approved by President Muhammadu
Buhari, is to reposition NDDC for service
delivery to the people of the Niger Delta
region.

Chief Etang lauded the Akwa Ibom State
Director of the Commission and all the
employees for their support in the
ongoing verification of contracts and
contractors, and urged them to maintain
uncompromising standard.

In his remarks, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh
Executive Director Project and Chairman
of NDDC Contract Verification Committee, commended all staffers in Akwa Ibom State office and advised them to be vigilant and identify contractors with fake contact papers and ensure that they are handed over to security operatives.

Dr. Ojougboh admonished contractors
who abandoned projects to return to sites and those wrongly paid without job
completions to be ready to refund the
money as the Interim Management
Committee is out to ensure the region
experiences visible growth and
development.
