It is the citizens of a country that ultimately determines its fate. Nigeria is like this because of Nigerians so leadership anywhere.... is fundamentally overrated.

Afterall the basic and only function of goverment is to organise society to which the leader of that country is no more than a moderator, a conductor. The party belongs to the citizens, the orchestra its people.

What democracy affords is the ability to moderate the direction of society by stimulating leadership... a sort of carrot and stick situation.
