Good day Nairalanders

I've been quite curious about this. "How can one make first class... especially in a distant learning institution?

First of all, we already know that "Having a first class doesn't mean a guaranteed job after school nor is it a sign of success in the future"

Also, we already know the general philosophy "Study hard and read your books" - Yehs sah.

This is a personal goal: If it's worth doing at all, it should be done reaaaallllyy well abi.

What I'm asking is "What strategies can one employ to attain a first class, accounting for the possibility of a slow semester where one may not fare well in a course(s)".

Also.... Please those who have had first class or those on the path to getting there, please share your thoughts and strategies... It could really inspire young lads out there like myself.

Yes... I'm a freshman.

I think making first class is firstly, God's grace, secondly, your ability to work smartly towards achieving it. You should be 100% focused and never let anything distract you...

You might even lose your social and religious life while trying to get a first class.

You have to set a target of A's in all your courses.

Know what each lecturer want, some of them need compendium,

Don't copy assignments from ur colleagues, make research, don't copy verbatim from blogs and websites, go to the library. Infact, library should be your second home.

Depending on what works for you, a good friend with your same dream can be good because two good heads are better than one. But if you can't find one, be on your own.

If your colleagues bring problems to help them, do it because they more you teach them, the more you understand.

Don't underestimate any course, take all of them seriously. even if its 1 credit unit.

it may sounds impossible but its very possible, read everyday, have ur personal timetable.

Very good reply.
Awesome.
Thanks

While you are working hard to grad with a First Class, develop yourself in the relevant soft skills for your field. It's quite competitive out there TBH
