If the reason given for the visa ban on Nigerians is true, then Nigerians and indeed the Nigerian Government is to blame.

For many years, the US have complained about Nigerians over staying there visas and refusing to return to Nigeria.
These complains seem to have fallen on deaf ears, and now here we are.

It's not like our government have ever been serious about anything before though, but if they had taken steps on there own to control migration to the US by ensuring that people who overstay are sanctioned one way or another, or put in place mechnism that ensured that people who travel return, we may perhaps not be where we are now.

Now even there own family members will feel the heat and let's see if that will reset there Brains. Otherwise, expect Canada and others to follow suit soonest.

Face the glaring truth staring at you.

Sole reason is that Nigerians have abused visa and same time have a denting reputation. The make-up statement is just a diversion. There are worst and rich countries that will never fall on that list because of Trump's relation with those countries.

Trump Travel ban is foolish and does justifying it a dumb... every countries over stay, including the punk ass US but why discriminate on good people because of few bad ones

Blame the federal government for the ban. Presidents, governors, ministers, senators, reps members , DGs...name them....all have one bad or criminal record or the other hanging on their necks which are well known to the USA. For anyone who has been to america before, you do not need any Jupiter to start asking you why america keeps protecting their country and citizens. That country is an earthly paradise. One of my uncles once said, before he dies, even if it's just once, he must see america and even if it's just 24 hours that he stays in that country and comes back, it's enough.

After 2011 elections, Buhari was banned by US from entering their shores for intolerance and support for electoral violence in Nigeria.

A few years back, our law makers who were invited by usa government to participate in a vital economic programme ended up molesting the hotel female staff which was reported and appropriate sanctions were placed, including recalls and cancellation of their visas.

Akpabio was charged with money laundering but same is now a minister in the ruling party.

Ovie Omo Agege was charged by a USA court and the same is the deputy senate president in the ruling apc. Amazingly, our government cleared him as they cleared Ibori but was later jailed in the uk by the uk court years back

Uncle Femi Gbajabiamila was also charged for a crmate-related issue in the USA but the same is now a speaker of the house. Whether they like it or not, the would still be jailed same way they did ibori. It's a matter of time.

Boko haram keeps raging like wildfire but the government has always maintained they've been technically defeated. All the money voted for munitions purchase couldn't yield expected results.

A religious leader was held for several years despite court order for his release but Buhari, because of his personal interest still keeps him there. What has the office of the president got to do with a religious affair?

A notable CAN leader was beheaded after he called on the government to rescue him from the den of boko haram because they failed to meet their ransom request but when it comes to release of billions of naira for national assembly repairs, they can do that in a haste. It is worthy of note that same usa has accused the federal government of abetting the killings of the minority Christians in the north with their slow actions, which they have denied.

What of disrespect for the rule of law? Nigeria is the worst country where rule of law is given space. The recent sowore drama in court caused by the DSS was a clear proof. We learnt that after the USA reacted on the barbaric act followed by a threat to sanction the federal government, some notable politicians had been called by the embassy already, to submit their Valid visa for cancellation, which led to the sudden release of sowore and dasuki.

On poverty level, Nigeria has moved some steps forward in the recent rating, meaning there's no improvement.

Americans do not joke with security because they value lives of their citizens. What is happening in our land really calls for a great concern nationwide.

3 weeks ago, I was traveling to asaba from lagos. Shortly after hitting the benin bypass, we met a pool of vehicles on a stand by with their engine still running and we asked why...they told us herdemen were ahead doing their thing as usual. Amazingly, there was a police check point close by and those officers were heavily armed yet, couldn't near them until they had a field day and moved their victims into the bush before we now continued our journey. The driver told us such an attack was a commonplace in that axs and there are several of such happening daily nationwide which would never make the news headlines

Sanction may include alerting the US authorities about the individual(s) so they can be deported and then prosecuted

What?
Don't you think the US also have a data of people coming into their country?

How do you think they know people are over staying?

I feel Visa abuse is just a formal excuse.....are we the only country violating US immigration laws...India, Pakistan, China and a whole bunch of African countries overstay visa even Europeans ....

the US always look for away to react No matter how little the issue is
....we harassed a whole US citizen and put his family under trauma after repeated intervention to now add salt to the injury the presidency said Nigeria is not answerable to the US....u think they will take that lightly?? U are not answerable to US and know how to collect foreign aid and loans with debt cancellation concessions..

In btw, we carry their flag and start burning it over the killing of a person they consider a terrorist....are we no longer allies of the United States...?? .

Hello, The countries you mentioned abuse visas but are law abiding and conservative at a time with the way they violate visas.

Unlike Nigerians, damn! What a bunch of loud people. When last did you see those countries you listed in the news. Just in few days, can assure you one. Nigerian fraudster will be tracked in US. Our visas abuse is glaring to all with what we involved with.

You are very right, more nations violating visas but you hardly feel their presence, excluding Latino's.

Can tell you, Everybody knows us down here. Being a Nigerian mankes you feel like you have a siren on your head.

That country has no image. Some people are ready to run just knowing you are one.

The ban was long overdue.
Nigerians have a way of messing up good things.
Go to Malaysia you'd find out that we have basically corrupted their people, hence the police is quick to send back our people home.
Aside that, Shebi Una illiterate north brothers carry Iran matter for head? Burning US flags...

No need crying over spilt milk. It's time we focused on the country and made it better so others can also troop in and visit.
