The Purpose Of Kernel Sources In Redmi Note 8 Pro by bennyefosa19: 1:14pm On Feb 03, 2020
With the launch of Redmi Note 8 Pro which was powered by a MediaTek chipset, Xiaomi took a leap of faith this time because most pro variants always come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. However, since MediaTek claimed to compete with the likes of Snapdragon 730G with this gaming chipset of there's Redmi Note 8 Pro launched with the latest 4G chipset by the manufacturer. There was a lot of talk about the kernel sources before because MediaTek SoCs hardly ever disclosed their sources which was a big problem in case of custom updates. But this time to avoid criticism Xiaomi did release the codes and now it will help independent developers immensely in building for these SoCs. I hope that even in future Mediatek sources do follow the same process so that there's less criticism and more scope of upgrades and improvement.

Do share your opinion on what you think about these developments and how as a regular consumer the release of kernel sources would help.
