On this thread, https://www.nairaland.com/5668166/community-policing-fg-constables-wont

A lot of people saw nothing good on the proposed special constable to be recruited by the NPF.

Some said they will mount road blocks, intimidate and extort to enrich themselves.

Some asked why won't they be paid.

From what I read:

This is a volunteer work hence only gainfully employed people are eligible to apply .

It means you can only join if you want to volunteer.

If I join as a worker working in a federal ministry, will I be receiving double pay from the same employer?

Now. The special Constables:

Will not be armed.

They are expected to handle charge room and administrative duties.

Handle crowd control.
Accident scene duties. Alternative DISPUTE RESOLUTION.

and
Other less sensitive and less risky functions.

According to the force P.R.O,
But the special constables, who would not be armed, are expected to handle charge room and administrative duties, crowd control, accident scene duties, alternative dispute resolution and other less sensitive and less risky functions.

They will dress in police uniform but with a different force numbers to distinguish them from the regular cops.
