By funding trade projects that knock down barriers, improve efficiency and add value, we aim to drive growth and boost livelihoods where it’s needed most. Trade Africa Organizations must commit to Fair Trade as the principle core of their mission. Organizations can do this by providing financial, technical and organizational support to producers, raise awareness for the issues, and campaign for change.
A trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions, and securing the rights to marginalized producers and workers – especially in Africa. Trade Africa Organizations TAO (backed by consumers) are engaged actively in supporting producers, awareness raising and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of conventional international trade."
Trade Africa Organization TAO must be viewed as an equal partnership, and be mutually beneficial to both parties, achievable through mutual respect, transparency and accountability.
Trade Africa Organization improve trading conditions by paying a fair price for produce in the regional or local context, pre‐production financing, and must support long term trade partnership continuity. Organizations must secure and improve upon producers and workers’ rights, providing living wage, safe workplace and ensuring that the labor standards are defined. Trade Africa Organization TAO Finally, organizations must create a sustainable relationship with small producers and wage workers, promoting long term economic and social improvements through unionization, training, human resource and environmental.
The Trade Africa Organization recognizes that trade facilitation rests on three key pillars: simplification, harmonization, and transparency. Given its global uptake, it has the potential to ensure that reforms reflecting this recognition are “locked in” across countries, including those whose governments might otherwise be reluctant to implement them.
