Soccer (football) players can earn hundreds of thousands of pounds in wages every week. Throw in bonuses, sponsorship, and marketing, then the sums of money being talked about can move into the millions. Here are the top 10 wealthiest footballers in the world right now.

Club: Leicester City

Nationality: Brunei

Position: Midfielder

Current Leicester reserve team player Bolkiah might not be the most obvious name to top the list of richest footballers in the world. The Brunei national team captain is on a modest wage at the Foxes but it’s the fact that he’s the son of Jefri Bolkiah, Prince of Brunei, and the nephew of the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)
Cristiano Ronaldo

Position: Attacker

Argentina national team captain Messi is widely considered as one of the finest players to have ever lived so it’s no surprise he’s at the top end of this list. His astronomical wages match his achievements at club level with Barcelona.

Success has deserted him at international level but additional revenue through his sponsorship contracts such as his life-long deal with Adidas ensure his pockets are lined for the future.

4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (LA Galaxy)
Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Pay: $138,461 per week

Total Net Worth: $190 million

Other Forms of Income: Sponsorships and brand revenue

Club: LA Galaxy

Nationality: Sweden

Position: Striker

The former Sweden international has been a revelation in the US since he joined LA Galaxy back in 2018. Playing stateside has enabled him to boost his net worth with more exposure of his Zlatan brand.

He’s also one of a select few players that has been able to play Adidas and Nike against each other for his endorsement. Fortunately, his finances haven’t been hit too badly by the $22 million loss to his A-Z clothing brand.

I meant on their weekly wages. If Ibrahimovic is earning that much per week then he wouldn't have been fourth.
